Purpose
This

Abstract
Enterprise
digital
transformation
(EDT)
is
becoming
an
essential
strategy
for
business
growth
owing
to
the
rapid
iterative
invention
of
technologies.
Based
on
imprinting
theory,
we
examined
effects
chief
executive
officers'
(CEOs')
technology
backgrounds
(DTBs)
EDT
using
data
Chinese
listed
companies
from
2010
2020.
We
found
that
(1)
CEOs
with
technology‐related
learning
or
career
experience
can
drive
a
higher
degree.
(2)
Research
and
development
(R&D)
investment
corporate
social
responsibility
(CSR)
are
significant
variables
influence
CEOs'
technology.
Both
partially
mediate
DTBs,
driving
by
increasing
R&D
enhancing
CSR.
(3)
DTBs

in
state‐owned,
high‐tech,
economy
enterprises.
