Disinfection byproducts (DBPs) in swimming pool water are of wide concern for public health. In this study, the occurrence five categories aliphatic halogenated DBPs, i.e., trihalomethanes (THMs), haloacetic acids (HAAs), haloacetonitriles (HANs), halonitromethanes (HNMs), and haloketones (HKs), six aromatic halophenols (HPs), halonitrophenols (HNPs), halohydroxy-benzaldehydes (HBALs), halohydroxybenzoic (HBAs), halobenzoquinones (HBQs), haloanilines (HAs), was examined seven indoor their incoming tap water. The correlations between DBP concentrations quality parameters were explored. Moreover, cytotoxicity DBPs tested with human hepatoma (HepG2) cells, concentration-cytotoxicity contributions different calculated. results demonstrate that 24 (5 THMs, 8 HAAs, 5 HANs, 4 HNMs, 2 HKs) 50 (9 HPs, HNPs, 9 HBALs, HBAs, 11 HBQs, HAs) present water, among which 41 detected first time. average order HAAs > HANs HKs THMs while those HNMs. significantly lower than following HBQs HPs HBAs HBALs HAs HNPs. followed HNMs HNPs HAs, possessing main (93.2% total) all categories.

Textile printing and dyeing wastewater is a substantial source of highly toxic halogenated pollutants because the chlorination decolorization. However, information on occurrence fate byproducts, which are produced by decolorization textile wastewater, very limited. In this study, six categories byproducts (haloacetic acids (HAAs), haloacetonitriles (HANs),

Disinfection by-products (DBPs) are one of the unintended consequences water disinfection that commonly detected in various environments. Although DBPs known to induce antimicrobial resistance via stimulation chromosomal mutations, it remains unclear whether low-concentration could stimulate conjugative transfer antibiotic genes (ARGs). The present study aimed investigate effect two typical DBPs, namely trichloromethane (TCM) and dichloroacetonitrile (DCAN), on RP4 plasmid Escherichia coli genera. results demonstrated exposure low concentrations TCM DCAN significantly stimulated ARGs, wherein application 25 μg/L 10 resulted maximum fold change ~5.5– ~6.0–fold, respectively, at 16 h exposure. Further, assessment underlying mechanisms revealed involvement intracellular reactive oxygen species generation, SOS response, increase cell membrane permeability, upregulation expression proteins related pilus ATP synthesis, gene expression. Our findings provided a better understanding hidden biological effects ecological risks environment, especially concerning their spread resistance.
