Microplastic (MP) pollution has become a global issue, attracting attention from stakeholders around the globe. Knowledge of MPs been substantially advanced in recent years. Newly developed analytical technologies allow better characterization MPs, but characterizing nanosized plastic particles remains challenging. Transport debris land to oceans is key driver for marine pollution, and relative contributions riverine runoff atmospheric deposition must be further quantified. Another lingering issue whether can bioaccumulate biomagnify along food web, which demands investigations. Currently there no health risk assessment human exposure probably due lack reference threshold values. Hence, establishing values should long-term continuing task scientific community. Recent progress quantifying vertical settling deep brightened prospect finding "Missing Plastics", at least partially. Future efforts are urgently needed developing novel techniques, conducting additional laboratory field measurements, formulating robust models understand occurrence, fate, effects on planet.

Acute lung injury (ALI) is a common respiratory disease, Cordycepin has been reported to reduce ALI, which an effective component in Cordyceps militaris solid medium extract (CMME). Therefore, we aimed explore the alleviating effect and mechanism of CMME on ALI. This study evaluated lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced ALI mice by analyzing intestinal flora metabolomics its potential mechanism. We assessed pulmonary changes, inflammation, oxidative stress, macrophage neutrophil activation levels, then analyzed gut microbiota through 16S rRNA profile UPLC-QTOF/MS. The results showed that treatment improved injury, reduced inflammatory factors stress decreased recruitment. revealed significantly increased richness diversity abundance Bacteroides compared with Mod group significantly. Metabolic analysis indicated reversed levels differential metabolites may ameliorate purine metabolism, nucleotide bile acid (BA) did reverse changes BA mice, were associated flora. improve regulating correcting metabolic disorders, providing new insights into action.

This study examined the effects of hot high-fat simulants on physicochemical properties microplastics (MPs) from polypropylene (PP)-, low-density polyethylene (LDPE)-, and polylactic acid (PLA)-based single-use food container (SUFC) leachates those aging their immunomodulatory effectors. Scenario studies have demonstrated that MPs were released these three types SUFCs. LDPE- PLA-based SUFCs also cellulose. Among SUFCs, only PP particles exhibited a new absorption peak at 1725 cm-1, which phenomenon may be attributed to presence unstable tertiary carbon atoms. Subsequently, we investigated removing additive both thermal-aged with polystyrene (PS) carboxyl-modified PS (PS-COOH) polymer backbones as reference materials. The findings indicated PS-COOH induced comparable innate immune responses, exhibiting similar size SUFC percolates. Consequently, selected original MPs, respectively, evaluate immunity. results revealed thata protein corona formed particle types, more adsorption observed particles. complex enhanced phagocytosis RAW264.7 macrophages increased expression pro-inflammatory genes NOS2 TNF-α through an actin polymerization cross-linking mechanism. In this study, how affect responses using model system, emphasizing importance comprehensive safety evaluations MPs.
