In the current years, polydopamine nanoparticles (PDA NPs) have been extensively investigated as an eumelanin mimic. However, unlike natural eumelanin, PDA NPs contain no 5,6-dihydroxyindole-2-carboxylic acid (DHICA)-derived units and may be limited in certain intrinsic properties; superior eumelanin-like nanomaterials are still actively being sought. Levodopa (l-DOPA) is a precursor expected to convert into DHICA further remain within final product through covalent or physical interactions. Herein, poly(levodopa) [P(l-DOPA) NPs] were synthesized with assistance of zinc oxide supplement synthetic eumelanin. This study found that P(l-DOPA) had ∼90% DHICA-derived subunits on their surface exhibited antioxidant activity compared due looser polymeric microstructure. Benefitting from stronger ROS scavenging ability, outperformed treating cellular oxidative stress acute inflammation. research opens up new possibilities for development application novel melanin-like materials.

Polydopamine (PDA)-derived melanin-like materials exhibit significant photothermal conversion owing to their broad-spectrum light absorption. However, low near-infrared (NIR) absorption and inadequate hydrophilicity compromise utilization of solar energy. Herein, we developed metal-loaded poly(norepinephrine) nanoparticles (PNE NPs) by predoping metal ions (Fe

Abstract Solar vapor evaporation have emerged as a promising green technology to harvest fresh water. Achieving high rates while employing accessible and renewable materials is key focus in this field. Here, 3D cylindrical‐shaped solar evaporator composed of natural cellulose fabricated through ice‐templating freezing combined with crosslinking gelation. It demonstrates an rate 4.2 kg m −2 h −1 under 1 sun irradiation, reaches energy efficiency 173%, surpassing most reported cellulose/wood‐based evaporators. This enhanced performance facilitated by absorbing from surrounding, possessing connected pores, reducing the enthalpy. Moreover, systematic exploration correlation between pore size reveals that reduced (several micrometers) does not necessarily result higher rate, despite improving fluid transportation. The interaction water induces formation intermediate reduces enthalpy more than 35%. Thus, final determined synergistic effect involving transport, hydrophilicity, vaporization Giving achieved, cellulose‐based presents candidate toward high‐throughput, eco‐friendly steam generation devices, aligning well criteria sustainable development.

Polydopamine (PDA) exhibits admirable photothermal properties and biocompatibility for biomedical applications; however, its near-infrared (NIR-II) absorption antibacterial performance remain insufficient. Herein, we introduced Fe-doped molybdenum oxide (MoFeOx) functionalized PDA composites exhibiting robust NIR absorption, reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, glutathione (GSH) depletion, thereby achieving a synergistic therapy/chemodynamic effect. Polyethylenimine (PEI) served as the interlayer to bind MoFeOx onto surface of through electrostatic interaction. Compared with pure PDA, nanoparticles demonstrated 145% improvement in efficiency NIR-II range (1064 nm) when incorporating only 2.2% MoFeOx. This was attributed generation electron "donor" "acceptor" within material, resulting reduction energy band gap enhanced migration, characterized by ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS). The exhibited therapeutic effects on E. coli S. aureus photothermal/chemodynamic therapy. work offers an alternative methodology improving designing materials.
