Abstract Advances in soft robotics, materials science, and stretchable electronics have enabled rapid progress grippers. Here, a critical overview of robotic grippers is presented, covering different material sets, physical principles, device architectures. Soft gripping can be categorized into three technologies, enabling grasping by: a) actuation, b) controlled stiffness, c) adhesion. A comprehensive review each type presented. Compared to rigid grippers, end‐effectors fabricated from flexible components often grasp or manipulate larger variety objects. Such are an example morphological computation, where control complexity greatly reduced by softness mechanical compliance. All-solid-state lithium ion batteries (ASSLBs) are considered next-generation devices for energy storage due to their advantages in safety and potentially high density.
