ABSTRACT IMPORTANCE Autism frequently co-occurs with other mental health conditions. In the general population, these co-occurring conditions are highly heritable and genetically correlated; however, genetic architecture of among autistic individuals is unclear. OBJECTIVE To investigate relationship between common rare variation latent factors individuals. DESIGN Cross-sectional SETTING The study was conducted Simons Foundation Powering Research (SPARK) dataset, V9 release (12 December 2022). PARTICIPANTS Phenotypic data exploration factor analyses in 74,204 individuals, were a maximum 17,582 data. MAIN OUTCOMES AND MEASURES Genetic analysis limited to those probands included SPARK iWES1 dataset [n=17,582]. SNP heritability estimates correlations computed for three scores six diagnostic categories (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or ADHD, bipolar disorder, depression, schizophrenia, anxiety disruptive behaviour disorders DBD) using bivariate GCTA-GREML LDSC. Polygenic generated summary statistics from most recent genome wide association studies (GWAS) five traits Associations categorical diagnoses tested separately polygenic (PGS), de novo variants (DNVs) copy number (CNVs). RESULTS 56% presented psychiatric condition. Confirmatory identified minimally correlated factors: behavioural factor, cothymic ‘Kraepelin’ thought heritabilities ranging 0.21 (s.e. 0.02) 0.09 0.03) factor. Among conditions, moderate significant heritabilites observed ADHD (0.18, s.e. = 0.04) DBD (0.52, 0.08). Moderate positive found DBD, corresponding external population cohorts. PGS educational attainment significantly associated all some tested. We no evidence an autism, CNVs, DNVs constrained genes increased likelihood phenotypes CONCLUSION RELEVANCE heritable, but have distinct autism itself. Key Points Question Do contribute individuals? Findings this cross-sectional without we single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) Disruptive Behaviour Disorders (DBD), mental-health factors. People with disabilities (PWD) and their caregivers encounter considerable mental health difficulties stemming from physical, psychological, social pressures. Depression anxiety are widespread in both demographics, intensified by societal stigma, restricted healthcare access, financial constraints. Although caregiving offers emotional satisfaction, it also entails psychological physical burdens, affecting the well-being of persons (PWD). This study aims to evaluate prevalence depression among disabilities, emphasizing burden experienced groups. It elucidate interrelated aspects experiences guide effective interventions policy suggestions. A cross-sectional was performed involving 1,847 people Dong Nai Tay Ninh provinces Vietnam. levels were assessed utilizing Vietnamese adaptations Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). Statistical studies, encompassing independent t-tests, employed compare outcomes between caretakers demonstrated markedly elevated (M = 0.48, SD 0.54) 0.43, 0.57) contrast caregivers, who exhibited reduced scores for 0.25, 0.38) 0.28, 0.46) (p < 0.001). These data suggest that although endure significant suffering, those disproportionately impacted issues. The research underscores immediate necessity specialized therapies individuals caretakers. Enhancing access specialist services, mitigating offering structured caregiver support programs essential improving these populations. Policies must prioritize integration care within comprehensive disability frameworks foster inclusive sustainable solutions.

Camouflaging involves various strategies employed by autistic individuals to modulate the visibility of their characteristics in social situations and is thought be primarily motivated psychosocial factors. BackgroundThe social interaction styles of autistic individuals are determined by neural differences across multiple brain systems, and these not necessarily pathological in nature or entirely specific for autism. Interventions that aim to modulate function simulate more neurotypical behavior can be detrimental self-acceptance quality life (QoL). Therefore, this cross-sectional study aimed test contributions six dimensions the neurotype then use causal inference identify which them have adverse effects on QoL. MethodsWe quantified individual socially relevant functions (social anhedonia, theory mind, affective empathy, anxiety, prosopagnosia alexithymia), as well confounding constructs, using validated questionnaires a sample 366 adults with wide range traits (ATs), including 78 diagnosed We first used Bayesian linear regression most likely predictive model ATs. Then, we constructed sufficient adjustment set estimate differential roles constructs lowering QoL.ResultsWe found 76% variance ATs was explained combination mind differences, alexithymia, face blindness, while empathy did contribute. However, only alexithymia anhedonia were adversely affect QoL.ConclusionWe suggest variation specific, neurally behaviorally, than broad AT construct. There autism/AT-related tested dimensions, but QoL disproportionately affected suggesting transdiagnostic markers poor outcomes.

Autistic people often experience difficulties with healthcare, and are more likely than neurotypical to have unmet healthcare needs. They may also be find menstruation menopause difficult women. Healthcare professionals (HCPs) insufficient training support work autistic adults, they lack the skills or confidence discuss reproductive sexual health (RSH) patients. When these two issues combined, it would appear that particular when seeking RSH care. The aim of this study was explore people's experiences related in United Kingdom. Surveys were distributed assistance an autism charity, completed by 136 adults. survey consisted mainly tick-box responses, but there several opportunities for participants write comments about their experiences. Respondents felt HCPs almost never seem know how affects RSH. Abstract Background Autistic traits are distributed along a continuum ranging from clinical presentations to the general population, being associated with high-risk of mental health problems. However, underlying mechanism remains unclear. Given that alexithymia, which contributes emotional difficulties related autistic traits, utilization social camouflaging as potential for coping, may exacerbate issues. This study aimed examine mediating effects alexithymia and in associations between symptoms anxiety/depression. Methods A total 1085 Chinese university students (age: 21.8 ± 2.7 years, 51.9% males) were recruited through an online survey measured problems (anxiety depression), camouflaging. The mediator on anxiety depression conducted, two serial mediation models verified by regression analysis. Results findings revealed significant positive association depression. manifestation was found be influenced mediated sequentially (β = 0.022, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.011–0.035). According subgroup analysis, results within female group consistent observations made overall sample. male group, statistical significance effect no longer evident. Limitations can only identify camouflaging, not causal relationships. Neuroimaging research is necessary unravel neural mechanisms underlie these associations. Conclusions Our play role relationship students, especially anxiety. issues vary males females. highlights pathway has improve well-being individuals exhibiting high traits.
