Abstract In situ monitoring of short‐lived transition states (TSs) is crucial for understanding electrochemical reaction mechanisms but remains challenging. Conventional surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy (EC‐SERS) primarily provides vibrational information, with limitations in hotspot reproducibility and often overlooking electronic information associated TSs. This study introduces a dual‐channel EC‐SERS strategy using nanolaminate nano‐optoelectrode (NLNOE) devices, integrating plasmon‐enhanced scattering (PE‐VRS) (PE‐ERS) to concurrently probe TS dynamics within electrically connected plasmonic nanocavities. Using the AgCl ( s ) + e − ⇌ Ag Cl aq redox system, this approach distinct PE‐VRS PE‐ERS signatures (AgCl) * TS. Notably, significant increase signals concurrent emergence, characterized by filled bonding unoccupied antibonding orbitals negligible energy gaps. enhanced signal correlates increased polarizability, leading amplified due electron cloud distortion. By modulating Cl⁻ ion concentrations via electrolyte composition (1× PBS 1× PBS‐equivalent KH₂PO₄) while maintaining constant total concentration, competition between Ag/AgCl Ag/AgH₂PO₄ reactions nanolayers influenced. These results demonstrate capability distinguish interfacial based on covalent ionic bond characteristics.

Nonaqueous lithium-based batteries have become a dominating stream of modern energy storage systems. Understanding the physicochemical processes and mechanisms electrode evolution interfacial reactions in lithium is highly desired to further improve their capabilities. Compared with ex situ testing techniques, situ/operando spectroscopic techniques are significant importance battery research because they can provide more dynamic transient information under working conditions. Herein, this review we systematically introduce various for development nonaqueous Li batteries, including infrared (IR) spectroscopy, Raman scattering (Raman) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) sum frequency generation vibrational spectroscopy (SFG-VS) X-ray absorption (XAS). The recent advances these especially applications studying materials electrode–electrolyte interphases, been comprehensively summarized. Finally, propose future potential research.

Proton exchange membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE) is a promising technology for sustainable hydrogen production. However, the anodic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) critical bottleneck restricting power-to-gas efficiency and widespread application of PEMWE devices because harsh acidic oxidative environment causes drastic catalyst structural thus severe dissolution/corrosion as well performance degradation. Currently, lack deep insight identifying real catalytic sites during distinctions mechanisms have hindered development highly active durable OER catalysts PEMWE. Therefore, elucidating OER-induced structure understanding underlying are recognized foundations technology. Against this backdrop, in situ spectroscopic characterization techniques serve powerful tools achieving goal by enabling real-time monitoring capture key intermediates. This Account summarizes recent advances cutting-edge spectroscopy probing process. The fundamentals device configurations these briefly introduced, advantages each technique intermediates to unveil also been discussed. Finally, challenges, trends, prospects field presented.
