This
study
is
a
researcher-practitioner
action
inquiry
which
was
used
to
explore
children's
sensory
experiences
with
focus
on
the
sense
of
smell
(olfaction).
We
critically
considered
early
childhood
theories
that

socially
just
approaches
and
connected
them

Young
children
encounter
a
diverse
range
of
written
and
multimodal
texts
in
their
play
everyday
lives.
Prior
to
formal
education,

not
be
considered
‘readers’
or
‘writers’

conventional
sense,
yet
nonetheless,
they
engage
creatively
agentively
literacies.
However,
little
is
known
about
motives
intentions
our
youngest
citizens

text.
This
paper
reports

wider
ethnographic
involving
3
4-year-olds,
families
practitioners
at
early
childhood
setting.
Data
gathering
analysis
were
shaped
by
two
distinct
theoretical
lenses,
namely,
neo-Vygotskian
concept
perezhivanie
posthumanist
affect
theories.
The
study
are
exemplified
through
vignettes
extracted
data,
which
illustrate
how
children’s
intent
encounters
text
underpinned
three
overarching
interrelated
goals
–
make
meaning,
relationships
identities.
In
addition,
building
on
literacy
research,
this
considers
nature
emergence

more
textured
understandings
