Abstract This study aimed to review the efficacy of commonly used supplements on health status and performance football players. We searched several databases for relevant publications published in English up June 2024 using keywords such as nutritional supplementation, performance, football, The available literature indicated that l -arginine may improve cardiovascular function, ventilation, serum level lactate, maximal oxygen consumption (VO 2 Max) Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) multiple-choice reaction time. Creatine jumping, sprinting, change direction speed, reduce fatigue. Among vitamins, vitamin D improves injury-related hormones cortisol testosterone. B vitamins blood lactate recovery periods. Vitamin E C by decreasing oxidative stress increasing antioxidant capacity delivery exercising skeletal muscles. Iron supplementation endurance capacity. Further studies are warranted confirm effects players, identify appropriate dosage also determine their mechanism action.

With an increasing number of studies delving into the impact dietary supplements on combat sports performance, researchers are actively seeking a more efficient supplement for use in these sports. Nonetheless, controversies persist. Hence, we undertook systematic review and Bayesian network meta-analysis to discern most effective by synthesizing available evidence. We conducted comprehensive search across PubMed, Web Science, Cochrane, Embase, SPORTDiscus, covering period from their establishment November 2, 2023. Our aim was identify randomized controlled trials that evaluated benefits various elite athletes. The risk bias assessed using revised Cochrane Risk Bias Tool Randomized Trials. A cross-sectional was conducted with 93 football players aged 15-24 from a academy. Perfectionism assessed using Sport Questionnaire, while nervosa evaluated Düsseldorf Orthorexia Scale. Body composition parameters, including mass index, lean mass, skeletal muscle fat percentage, were analyzed multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance. Higher levels negative perfectionism significantly associated increased (p = 0.006), positive showed no significant correlation. Younger exhibited higher scores compared older groups 0.043). No relationships found > 0.05). This highlights psychological underpinnings athletes, emphasizing influence limited role composition. Early intervention focusing on reducing promoting adaptive could support both well-being athletic performance. Future research should investigate long-term trends sociocultural factors development.
