job

firefighters

repeatedly

trauma

Purpose
Firefighters
are
daily
confronted

tested.
Fisher’s
criterion
was
considered,

interpreted
as
statistically
significant.
Findings
Personal
accounted
for
18%

variations
in
offered
greater
contribution

INTRODUCTION:
Firefighters,
as
the
first
responders
to
disasters,
are
exposed
dangerous
and
stressful
situations
experience
high
job
stress
due
nature
of
their
work,
affecting
various
physical
mental
health
dimensions.
The
aim
this
study
was
assess
in
Iranian
firefighters
by
systematic
review.
MATERIAL
AND
METHODS:
PRISMA
guideline
used
conduct
present
study.
Data
resources
SID,
Magiran,
Scopus,
PubMed,
ISC,
Web
Science,
Google
Scholar
were
searched.
Conference
papers
reference
list
retrieved
articles
screened
identify
additional
studies.
Literature
searches
conducted
both
Persian
English
without
any
time
limit
until
end
2020.
RESULTS:
Initially,
147
studies
identified,
finally
13
eligible
systematically
reviewed.
In
study,
2378
studied.
Most
had
cross-sectional
designs.
CONCLUSIONS:
results
showed
that
most
stress,
influencing
other
life
aspects
such
quality
life,
satisfaction,
etc.
As
appropriate
interventions
can
reduce
providing
with
adequate
training
at
beginning
employment
also
in-service
training,
it
is
possible
stress.

for

responders
on
the

lines.

limited
knowledge
exists

psychological
impacts

exposure

scoping
review
approach,

databases
combination
of
related
keywords
including
responders,
mental
health,
and
epidemic.
Twenty-three

peer
reviewed
articles
met
criteria
inclusion.

additional

reports
were
also
included.
Frequently
cited
concerns
included
increased/unmanageable
workloads,
burnout,
compassion
fatigue,
safety,
negative
attitudes/cynicism,
cumulative/repeated
exposures,
frustration
with
lack
resources.
Several
resources
described
proactive
measures
mitigate
consequences.
One
such
measure
Behavioral
Health
Access
Program
(BHAP),
comprehensive,
specialized
program
designed
address
health
needs
responders.

settlement
funding
should
be
utilized
support
development
BHAPs
