Abstract Background Autonomy is a core element in many established management theories, consistently linked to positive employee outcomes. However, the COVID-19 pandemic and rapid technological advancements have transformed workplace dynamics, particularly information technology (IT) sector India, where hybrid work models gained prominence. Despite this shift, no standardized measure exists assess autonomy experienced by employees environments, hindering deeper analysis understanding. Objective This study aims contextualize, develop, validate Hybrid Work Scale (AHWS) for Indian context, providing tool researchers practitioners systematically examine impact of work. Methods A descriptive two-phase was conducted following DeVellis’s scale development framework. Phase 1 focused on conceptualizing developing construct through comprehensive literature review, item generation, assessment content face validity experts, followed pilot test. 2 encompassed validation process, which included Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) identify underlying factor structure Confirmatory (CFA) model its fit. Results The data collected from 313 IT working Bengaluru, analyzed confirm normality (below ± 2.58). items showed strong correlation ( r = .734) with Design Questionnaire indicated convergent validity. Discriminant confirmed Fornell-Larcker Heterotrait-Monotrait (HTMT) criteria, HTMT values below 0.90. final yielded an 18-item Cronbach’s alpha 0.825, comprising four distinct dimensions: (a) location autonomy, (b) time (c) scheduling (d) decision autonomy. Implications AHWS offers valuable both managers academics how different forms influence well-being productivity settings. It also addresses gap literature, foundation further empirical research models.
