The rapid development of intelligent connected technologies and cellular vehicle-to-everything communication (C-V2X) provide new opportunities to solve the automated vehicle (CAV) traffic problem for eco-driving at continuous signalized intersections. With C-V2X, a hierarchical velocity optimization design based on hybrid model predictive control technique (HVO-HMPC) is presented reduce fuel consumption pollution emission. First, distance–domain problem, with distance as independent variable, was constructed. Second, MPC scheme developed by combining multiple shooting method calculate optimal profile high-level controller, which acts reference in low-level controller. Then, car-following built, controller tracked backbone, calculated while ensuring that safety constraint satisfied. Next, proposed HVO-HMPC tested Prescan, effect comparisons different methods terms consumption, emission, braking time, number applications were studied under driving scenarios. Results show once maximal speed limited 40 km/h short-period signals 20 long-period signals, effectively reduces 27.21%, 25.89%, emissions 25.3%, 25.97%, respectively, achieving best performance. Finally, an experimental prototype built confirm validity HVO-HMPC.
