Abstract Background Most internationally adopted individuals have been exposed to an array of developmental risk factors, including early institutionalization and other adverse experiences. Adopted children from Eastern Europe tend show worse neurodevelopmental outcomes than areas origin. Previous studies shown a high incidence prenatal alcohol exposure fetal spectrum disorders (FASD) among this population, factor that may explain some their complex needs. However, direct comparisons adoptees (from or elsewhere) with without FASD not previously reported. Method In study, we compared 69 adolescents 30 community in degree physical growth, neurobehavioral impairment, psychosocial, neurocognitive function using standardized assessments both parent‐reported questionnaires performance tests. The presence was collected via parent reports. Results Fourteen (20.3% the sample) had FASD, whereas 55 did not. group showed more difficulties several domains psychosocial adjustment cognitive development lower head circumferences, adolescents, few areas, pattern less clear‐cut. also presented difficulties, although lesser degree. Conclusions profile deficits social communication, certain (particularly working memory language), self‐regulation. given factors for neurodevelopment, caution is needed before assuming observed derive exclusively exposure.

Children with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASDs) demonstrate deficits in social functioning that contribute to early withdrawal from school and delinquency, as well the development of anxiety depression. Dopamine is involved reward, motivation, behavior. Thus, we evaluated whether neonatal ethanol exposure (in an animal model FASDs) has impact on recognition memory using three-chamber novelty discrimination test during middle adolescence male female rats, modafinil analog, novel atypical dopamine reuptake inhibitor CE-123, can modify this effect. Our study shows rats neonatally exposed exhibited sex- age-dependent (male) (female) adolescence. These were specific domain not simply due more general learning because these animals did exhibit changes short-term object task. Furthermore, early-adolescent show index but demonstrated increase locomotor activity. Chronic treatment however, prevented appearance deficits. Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is considered a lifelong disability that has been framed with neurobiological descriptions focused on the brain. These are important features but fail to tell story of living FASD. By surveying those FASD, this work expanded upon prior survey which illustrated multitude early-onset physiological issues occurring at rates much higher than typical general population. The current project, again using an anonymous methodology, sought open up other direct experiences better understand complexity An online was used gather data adversity in childhood, schooling, employment, housing and finances, involvement criminal justice system, as well relationships parenting. Background/Objectives: Sleep disturbances are common among children with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) and often accompanied by emotional behavioral challenges. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between sleep problems, anxiety, depressive symptoms in FASD. Methods: The included 90 aged 7 16 years diagnosed FASD, who were primarily foster or adoptive care. Participants completed validated psychometric tools, including Children's Habits Questionnaire (CSHQ), State Trait Anxiety Inventory for Children (STAIC) Depression 2 (CDI 2). Results: significant, 71.1% of participants scoring above clinical threshold CSHQ. measured STAIC C-1, was positively correlated specific difficulties, such as bedtime resistance (r = 0.30, p 0.008) anxiety 0.31, 0.005). However, no correlation found trait (STAIC C-2) problems. Parent-reported symptoms, using CDI 2:P, strongly associated general 0.27, < 0.011), parasomnias 0.33, 0.002) daytime sleepiness 0.34, 0.001). Conclusions: These findings suggest that FASD closely related state symptoms. results emphasize need targeted interventions addressing health this population. Abstract Fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) are among the most common neurodevelopmental disabilities. Individuals with FASD experience postnatal adversity (PA; i.e., child maltreatment or other potentially traumatic events) at exceedingly high rates. This is connected to increased internalizing and externalizing symptomatology. The current systematic review aimed synthesize literature regarding intersectionality of FASD/prenatal exposure (PAE) utilizing developmental psychopathology (DP) framework. Adhering Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews Meta‐Analyses (PRISMA) standards, identification studies through PsycInfo, PubMed, Web Science was conducted. Primary data on PAE, adversity, individual functioning (biological, cognitive, affective), external systems, familial cultural contexts were extracted. Furthermore, quality assessment information extracted all studies. Thirty‐one met inclusion criteria. Overall, individuals a weighted mean 4.44 adverse childhood experiences. Multifinality in outcomes evident, as impact mental health, cognitive ability, biological processes. Cultural context settings contribute risk resilience factors. points unique strengths areas improvement within literature. Aligning DP framework, intersection complex impacts various Systems add this complexity. Intervention development taking into consideration these multiple factors necessary.
