To address this gap, we study, focusing impact Iranian students. Methods: In cross-sectional 185 students from four disciplines ((basic sciences, Physiopathology, extern, intern) were selected through multi-stage sampling method at Mashhad University Medical Sciences. Internet disorder (IGD) test as well grade point average (GPA) last semester, study hours normal days near exam, efficiency hours, number failed semesters, satisfaction assessed. Results: total participated, which 62.2% (115 students) females. The prevalence IGD was found be 3.8%. Interestingly, approximately times higher males than females (7.1% vs. 1.7%, P=0.106). Furthermore, both overall daily time (P<0.001) exams (P=0.031) significantly without compared those with IGD. factors such age, gender, being native Mashhad, discipline level, GPA, showed correlation Conclusion: These findings may serve cautionary signal for educational authorities system. obtain more robust results, further investigations are recommended, particularly other majors.

Objectives The longitudinal associations between DSM-5 Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD) and suicide-related ideation behaviors have not been explored. In this study, we therefore seek to examine the association baseline IGD incident suicide ideation, plans, attempts. Methods This is a prospective cohort study of 2586 Mexican college students followed up from September 2018 June 2022. We estimated hazards ratios modeling incidence attempts by fitting proportional Cox models with person-time scaled in years. Results Among 2140 without at baseline, there were 467 cases 3987.6 person-years; rates 179 per 1000 person-years among 114 those IGD. Incidence for plans 67 39 non-IGD students, 15 10 1000, respectively After controlling age, sex, mood, anxiety, substance use disorders, was associated an 83% increased risk ideation. Although rate estimates higher IGD, results statistically significant. Conclusions helps raise awareness least suicidal people experiencing Clinicians treating patients may encounter complaints over time, even reports behavior that should be disregarded. Introduction The relationship between students’ smartphone addiction, social media use, video games play, and their academic performance has been widely studied, yet the existing literature presents inconsistent findings. This meta-analysis synthesizes current research to provide a comprehensive examination of impact these technologies on achievement. Methods A total 63 studies (yielding 64 effect sizes) were included, encompassing sample 124,166 students from 28 countries. utilized correlation coefficients sizes, reporting results based random effects model. Key statistics such as Fisher’s Z value, confidence intervals, heterogeneity ( Q ) test considered, publication bias was assessed using Begg Mazumdar’s rank test, with Kendall Tau coefficient determining significance. Results discussion revealed small but statistically significant negative association game playing, [ (64) = 2501.93, p < 0.001, d −0.085]. It is concluded that increased use associated poorer outcomes, potentially impacting key cognitive skills essential for success. implications educational psychology future directions are discussed.

Abstract The relationship between Gaming Disorder (GD) and the experience of functional impairments has received considerable theoretical attention in recent past current diagnostic approaches underscore centrality as a requirement for GD diagnosis. However, there is limited empirical evidence illuminating interplay impairments, particularly among specific vulnerable groups. present study seeks to bridge this gap by investigating an English-speaking sample ( N = 5198) comprising age- gender-matched group Professional Gamers (PG, n 2599) Non-Professional (NPG, sub-sampled from larger 192,260 individuals. results revealed that PG were at greater risk compared NPG prevalence rate (3.31%) was significantly higher almost doubled (1.73%), with further exhibiting overall symptom-load weekly time spent gaming NPG. Furthermore, reported experiencing frequency gaming-related NPG, particular affected areas both being ‘ school and/or work ’, physical health family other key differences emerging relation outcomes. Overall, findings show not only but also some impairment which highlights need develop support prevention intervention strategies at-risk population.

Despite consistent reports of the association between problematic internet gaming (PIG) and non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI), an increase in PIG does not necessarily lead to increased NSSI. This apparent paradox indicates presence other mediators moderators PIG-NSSI association. study aimed investigate role anxiety as a potential moderating mediating factor Chinese adolescents.A cross-sectional was conducted among 10,479 adolescents (50.5% male; age range, 9-18 years). Standardized self-report questionnaires were used assess severity PIG, anxiety, Spearman correlation multiple linear regression applied examine relationships Both effects assessed using Hayes' methods.PIG, symptoms, NSSI significantly correlated with one another. Anxiety moderated relationship [B = 0.002, standard error (SE) 0.000, p < 0.001], it partially mediated 0.017, SE 0.001, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.014-0.021].
