Straw return is an effective method for disposing agricultural residues. It not only utilizes waste but also improves soil. In the current review, different crop straw and its characteristics were highlighted, patterns of explored (including return, biochar their combined with fertilizer return), as well environmental impacts outlined. addition, effects amendment on soil properties [ e.g. , pH, organic carbon (SOC), nitrogen (N)/phosphorus (P)/potassium (K), enzyme activities, microbes] discussed. Information collected from this review proposed that or in combination applicable way improving fertility enhancing production. beneficial to physicochemical microbial features. The rice has positive growth. However, there are climate types, types crops China, meaning future research need long-term experiment assess complex interactions among straw, soil, plant eco-systems. Accordingly, aims provide available information application terms justify expand promotion.

Replacing petrochemical polymers with biomaterials for biodegradable mulch applications has attracted widespread attention. However, improving film performance and reducing costs remain an issue. In this work, we found that the synergistic effect of sodium alginate quaternary lignin significantly improved reduced cost poly(vinyl alcohol) films. The water retention, ultraviolet (UV) resistance, heat collection, light transmission, mechanical properties, soil consolidation, degradation rates composite films were systematically studied. We addition enabled to achieve complete UV while synergistically water-holding properties film. slumping, vapor permeability was 109.2 g·m–2·day–1. facilitated by self-degradation lignin, which degraded 55% after 50 days.
