The

Recent
advances
biotechnology
behavioral
modeling
have
led
to
resurgence
neuropeptide
research,
allowing
investigators
target
unique
peptide
systems
with
unprecedented
clarity.
Here,
we
review
discuss
multiple
consider
how
their
activity
may
contribute

aversion.

this

review,

Cortical
layer
6b
is
considered
by
many
to
be
a
remnant
of
the
subplate
that
forms
during
early
stages

development,

adult

understood.
Its
neuronal
complement
has
only
recently
become
subject
systematic
studies,
and
axonal
projections

have
remained
largely
unexplored
despite
decades

Alcohol
use
disorders
(AUDs)
impose
an
enormous
societal
and
financial
burden,
world-wide,
alcohol
misuse
is
the
7th
leading
cause
of
premature
death1.
Despite
this,
there
are
currently
only
3
FDA
approved
pharmacological
treatments
for
treatment
AUDs
in
United
States.
The
neurotensin
(Nts)
system
has
long
been
implicated
modulating
behaviors
associated
with
misuse.
Recently,
a
novel
compound,
SBI-553,
that
biases
action
Nts
receptor
1
(NTSR1)
activation,
shown
promise
preclinical
models
psychostimulant
Here
we
investigate
efficacy
this
compound
to
alter
ethanol-mediated
comprehensive
battery
experiments
assessing
ethanol
consumption,
behavioral
responses
ethanol,
sensitivity
metabolism.
Additionally,
investigated
behavior
avoidance
cognitive
assays
monitor
potential
side
effects
SBI-553.
We
find
SBI-553
reduces
binge-like
consumption
mice
without
altering
or
object
recognition.
