Aesthetic and moral evaluations engage appetitive defensive emotions. While the role played by pleasure in positive aesthetic judgements has been extensively researched, little is known about how emotions influence negative judgements. Specifically, it unknown which such tap into, whether both kinds of judgement share a common emotional root. Here, we investigated participants' individual sensitivity to disgust, fear, anger sadness predicted subjective stimuli. Bayesian modelling revealed that participants who were more sensitive fear found conventional transgressions wrong. In contrast, disgust disliked asymmetrical geometric patterns untidy rooms more. These findings suggest multiple emotions, not just they may rely on different as part their computational mechanism.

Hedonic evaluation of sensory objects varies from person to person. While this variability has been linked differences in experience, little is known about why stimuli lead different evaluations people. We used linear mixed-effects models determine the extent which openness, contour, and ceiling height interior spaces influenced beauty pleasantness ratings 18 participants. Then, by analyzing structural brain images acquired for same group participants, we asked if any regional gray matter volume (rGMV) covaried with these three features influence ratings. Voxel-based morphometry analysis revealed that openness on correlated rGMV anterior prefrontal cortex (Brodmann area (BA)-10), temporal pole (BA38) cluster, including posterior cingulate (BA31) paracentral lobule (BA5/6). There were no significant correlations involving contour or height. Our results suggest variance may play a role computation hedonic valuation account way people weigh certain attributes architectural spaces.

This study focuses on an exploration of the concept beauty using semantic differential method. 2,080 participants (53.46% were female) aged 18 to 89 (M = 41.36 years; SD 16.48) asked evaluate twenty-one bipolar adjectives across three dimensions – activity, evaluation, and potency. The results indicate that most descriptive used describe are: pleasant, inviting, good, inspiring, pure, kind, indicating is mostly associated with positive connotations. Furthermore, majority characteristic are related evaluation dimension, in which statistically significant differences identified evaluations made by men women. Women perceive as a significantly more strongly evaluative judgments than (p <.01). potential method can be compare meaning synonymous oppositional concepts.

Research on aesthetic descriptors of art in different languages is scarce. The aim the present study was to elucidate conceptual structure experiences three forms (music, visual arts and literature) Greek language, which has not been explored so far. It further aimed if biological cognitive factors such as age gender might produce differences appreciation. A total 467 younger older individuals from Greece were asked generate verbal (adjectives) free word-listing conditions order collect terms reflecting aesthetics-related semantic field art. capacity memory controlled by using a battery neuropsychological tests. Analysis generated adjectives' frequency salience revealed that 'beautiful' most prominent descriptor selected with distinctive primacy for all arts. significantly more pronounced relative music literature. Abstract Everyday objects offer invitations to act (affordances). Most empirical work on affordances has focused the shape and size of objects, neglecting analysis other visual properties, such as texture, investigated instead by designers. Texture perception depends type material, which changes familiarity, aesthetics, action(s) an object offers. Here, we influence aesthetics material sustainability affordance activation. Abstract Intelligence is a complex cognitive trait that has long intrigued researchers across disciplines. Recent advances in neuroscience have provided insights into the neurobiological underpinnings of intelligence. This review examines definition intelligence, focusing on neural processes and brain regions associated with functions such as reasoning, problem-solving, memory, learning. Key findings include: (I) prefrontal cortex plays crucial role higher decision-making, planning, working larger volume correlating better fluid intelligence performance; (II) parietal implicated mathematical reasoning spatial processing, essential for problem-solving abstract thinking; (III) hippocampus, critical memory formation retrieval, linked to through its task (IV) neuroimaging studies reveal scores are increased connectivity between regions, suggesting more efficient information processing. Understanding basis can provide valuable human cognition inform interventions enhance functioning. Further research needed unravel complexities substrates.
