Compact broadband near-infrared (NIR) light sources generated by phosphor-converted light-emitting diodes (pc-LEDs) have attracted considerable interest in emerging smart NIR spectroscopy applications. However, discovering a highly efficient and thermally stable phosphor still remains significant challenge. Here, we report new garnet phosphor, Gd3In2Ga3O12:Cr3+, which has emission peaking at 780 nm with full-width half maximum (FWHM) of 124 nm. The optimized Cr3+-doping concentration this material is particularly high (9 mol%), resulting quantum yield absorption efficiency 85.3% 49.1%, respectively. Moreover, 87.7% the initial intensity can be retained when heating up to 150 °C, demonstrating excellent thermal stability material. Fabricating prototype device using as-prepared combination blue LED chip, an output power (33.7 mW) photoelectronic conversion 12.0% achieved under 100 mA driving current. These results indicate that Gd3In2Ga3O12:Cr3+ may great potential for pc-LED

Blackcurrant is rich in anthocyanins that may affect exercise-induced physiological responses. We examined tissue oxygen saturation, muscle activity, cardiovascular responses and femoral artery diameter during a submaximal sustained isometric contraction. In randomised, double-blind, crossover design, healthy men (n = 13, age: 25 ± 4 years, BMI: 3 kg·m−2, mean SD) ingested New Zealand blackcurrant (NZBC) extract (600 mg∙day−1 CurraNZ™) or placebo (PL) for 7-days separated by 14-days washout. Participants produced maximal voluntary contractions (iMVC) 120-s 30%iMVC of the quadriceps with electromyography (EMG), near-infrared spectroscopy, hemodynamic ultrasound recordings. There was no effect NZBC on iMVC (NZBC: 654 73, PL: 650 78 N). During extract, total peripheral resistance, systolic, diastolic, arterial pressure were lower increased cardiac output stroke volume. With EMG root square vastus medialis saturation higher haemoglobin. 30%iMVC, at 30 (6.9%), 60 (8.2%), 90 (7.7%) 120 s (6.0%). Intake altered responses, activity quadriceps. The present study provides insight into potential mechanisms enhanced exercise performance intake blackcurrant.

The ability to sustain submaximal exercise is largely dependent on the oxidative capacity of mitochondria within skeletal muscle, and impairments in metabolism have been implicated many neurologic cardiovascular pathologies. Here we review studies which demonstrated utility Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) as a method evaluating muscle mitochondrial dysfunction clinical human populations. NIRS has previously used noninvasively measure tissue oxygen saturation, but recent using post-exercise recovery kinetics metabolism. In comparison historical methods measuring metabolic vivo, provides more versatile economical humans. These advantages generate great potential for applicability means
