The rise in diabetes cases is a growing concern due to the aging of populations. This not only places strain on healthcare systems but also creates serious public health problems. Traditional blood tests are currently used check sugar levels, they invasive and can discourage patients from regularly monitoring their levels. We recently developed nano-sensing probes that integrate Au microelectrodes conductivity meters, requiring 50 μL saliva for measurement. usage co-planar design coating-free electrodes makes measurement more stable, precise, easier. study found positive correlation between participant's fasting levels salivary conductivity. observed prevalence 11.6% among 395 adults under 65 years this study, using glycated hemoglobin > 6.5% definition. significantly higher group, clear trend increasing as rose. prediction model, conductivity, age, body mass index, performed well diagnosing diabetes, with ROC curve area 0.75. participants were further divided into low high groups based Youden index cutoff value 5.987 ms/cm. Individuals had 3.82 times greater risk than those lower determined by odds ratio calculation. In conclusion, portable sensing device has potential be screening tool detecting diabetes.

Although blood still remains the most commonly utilized medium to detect increased levels of oxidative damage induced by exercise, saliva diagnostics have gained increasing popularity due their non-invasive nature and athlete-friendly collection process. Given that contribution various phases menstrual cycle may differ, aim this study was evaluate an agreement between salivary plasmatic lipid peroxidation products in female swimmers both follicular (F) luteal (L) at rest following exercise. Twelve well-trained aged 19.6 ± 1.1 years old were examined. We measured diene conjugates (DCs), triene (TCs), Schiff bases (SBs) lipids immediately after extraction from plasma. All studied two times each, different one cycle, before high-intensity interval exercise (HIIE). Salivary DCs, TCs, SBs significantly post-exercise compared pre-exercise, F L phases. A high positive correlation observed concentrations plasma participants phases, HIIE. Ordinary least regression analysis indicates there no proportional differential bias data. The Bland-Altman method also declares bias, since line equality within 95% confidence mean difference swimmers, There plots. Thus, is first report a quantifications

Background: Periodontitis is associated with increased oxidative stress, which may impair treatment outcomes. Ozone therapy has shown promise in reducing stress and improving periodontal health. This study examined the impact of adjunctive gaseous ozone administration on salivary markers patients periodontitis stages II–IV grades A–C undergoing non-surgical (NSPT). Methods: Ninety were randomly allocated to either test group (NSPT administration) or control alone) using computer-generated randomization. The OzoneDTA system was used deliver at 2100 ppm for 60 s per site once weekly 4 weeks. Clinical parameters (probing depth [PD], clinical attachment level [CAL], plaque index [PI], gingival [GI]) (malondialdehyde [MDA], total antioxidant capacity [TAC], superoxide dismutase [SOD]) assessed by blinded examiners baseline, 3, 6 months post-treatment. Results: Mixed ANOVA revealed significant three-way interactions between time, treatment, stage grade biochemical measures (p < 0.001). exhibited improvements TAC (mean difference: 0.45 ± 0.12 mmol/L, p = 0.002), MDA (−0.38 0.09 nmol/mL, 0.001), SOD (65 18 U/mL, 0.001) compared group, more pronounced effects III IV. Large effect sizes (Cohen’s d > 0.8) observed baseline all markers. Conclusions: Gaseous as an adjunct NSPT can effectively improve markers, particularly IV periodontitis. enhanced outcomes be attributed ozone’s antimicrobial immunomodulatory properties, synergistically reduce promote healing.

Inflammation plays a crucial role in stroke pathogenesis. Thus, it is not surprising that cytokines, chemokines, and growth factors have been advocated diagnostics. Our study the first to evaluate salivary cytokine profile patients with ischemic stroke. Twenty-five subacute an age-, sex-, oral hygiene status-matched control group were enrolled study. The number of was set priori based on our previous experiment (α = 0.05, test power 0.9). Salivary concentrations tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), interleukin 6 (IL-6), 10 (IL-10) assessed using ELISA method. We showed TNF-α IL-6 significantly higher, whereas IL-10 content statistically lower both non-stimulated (NWS) stimulated (SWS) whole saliva patients. However, evaluation cytokines NWS rather than SWS may be greater diagnostic value. Of particular note TNF-α, which indicate cognitive/physical impairment post-stroke individuals. This parameter distinguishes from healthy controls correlates cognitive decline severity functional impairment. It also differentiates (with high sensitivity specificity) normal cognition mild moderate Saliva alternative blood for assessing patients, although further studies larger patient population are needed.

Abstract Introduction The low blood flow in ischemic stroke reduces oxygen and glucose induces a series of reactions that produce free radicals. Free radicals can destroy cell membranes (lipid peroxidation) marked by the elevation malondialdehyde (MDA), damage deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) showed 8-hydroxy-2’-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG). This review aimed to assess conclude research-based study systematically analyze relationship MDA/8-OHdG stroke. The prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is increasing, and it brings an enormous healthcare burden. traditional measurement function needs invasive blood tests, which hinders the early detection causes low awareness CKD. We recently designed a device with miniaturized coplanar biosensing probes for measuring salivary conductivity at extremely volume (50 μL). Our preliminary data discovered that was significantly higher in CKD patients. This cross-sectional study aims to validate relationship between function, represented by estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). enrolled 214 adult participants mean age 63.96 ± 13.53 years, whom 33.2% were male. CKD, defined as eGFR < 60 mL/min/1.73 m2, 11.2% our study. By multivariate linear regression analyses, we found positively related fasting glucose but negatively associated eGFR. further divided subjects into low, medium, high groups according tertials levels. There significant trend increment patients from (4.2% vs. 12.5% 16.9%, p trend: 0.016). receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves disclosed excellent performance using combined age, gender, body weight diagnose (AUC equal 0.8). adjusted odds ratio 2.66 (95% CI, 1.10–6.46) Overall, can serve good surrogate marker function; this real-time, non-invasive, easy-to-use portable may be reliable tool screening
