Bereavement following suicide and fatal overdose is associated with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) prolonged grief (PG). However, information about plausible explanations for these symptoms scarce. Leveraging data from two assessment points, we examine the prospective roles of stigmatization, guilt, shame, avoidant coping on PTSD PG symptom severity whether relations are similar across groups. We analyzed (N = 212) suicide- overdose-bereaved adults who completed waves collection (T1 T2; six months apart) as part a larger study traumatic loss. Multigroup path analysis serial mediation was used to estimate models symptomatology. Stigmatization (T1) guilt were modeled predictors, while shame (T2) mediators explaining (T2). Prospective between T1 stigma, T2 mediated by serially coping. analyses indicated adults, but stronger effect outcomes bereaved adults. Online self-report use convenience sample limitations. Our results suggest avoidance may help explain elevated in context bereavement. Accordingly, transdiagnostic interventions that concurrently target shame-related cognitions behavioral be promising warrant further attention.

Abstract The Primary Care PTSD Screen for DSM‐5 (PC‐PTSD‐5) and Checklist (PCL‐5) have demonstrated high levels of diagnostic accuracy strong psychometric properties across various samples settings. However, the impact age on these measures has been underinvestigated. This is problematic, as without accurate measurement, older adults with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) may be vulnerable to misdiagnosis inappropriate treatment planning. study examined in (≥ 65 years; n = 192) versus younger (< 188) veterans determine whether precision identifying was equally between groups a sample receiving primary care services U.S. Department Veterans Affairs setting. ABSTRACT Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can develop after trauma exposure. Some studies report that women PTSD at twice the rate of men, despite greater exposure in men. Lipids and their metabolites (lipidome) regulate a myriad key biological processes pathways such as membrane integrity, oxidative stress, neuroinflammation brain by maintaining neuronal connectivity homeostasis. In this study, we analyzed lipidome 40 individuals with trauma-exposed non-PTSD individuals. Plasma samples were for lipidomics using Quadrupole Time-of-Flight (QToF) mass spectrometry.
