Infections caused by resistant strains of Acinetobacter baumannii are now a global problem that requires the immediate development new antimicrobial drugs. Combination therapy is one strategies used to solve this problem. Based on information, purpose study was determine whether quercetin (QUE), in combination with three antibiotics, effective against colistin-resistant A. (ColR-Ab). The effects QUE colistin (COL), amikacin (AMK), and meropenem (MEM) were evaluated according checkerboard synergy test. combinations + COL AMK showed synergistic activity ColR-Ab FICI values range 0.1875-0.5 0.1875-0.2825, respectively. A 4- 16-fold decrease MIC 16- 64-fold detected. Synergistic confirmed time-kill test, these found be bactericidal at end 24 h. According spectrophotometric measurements, induced membrane damage, leading leakage nucleic acids. Cell lysis cell death SEM observations. detected offers an opportunity for future treatment potential infections strains.

Microbial resistance has progressed rapidly and is becoming the leading cause of death globally. The spread antibiotic-resistant microorganisms been a significant threat to successful therapy against microbial infections. Scientists have become more concerned about possibility return pre-antibiotic era. Thus, searching for alternatives fight necessity. Some bacteria are naturally resistant antibiotics, while others acquire mainly by misuse antibiotics emergence new variants through mutation. Since ancient times, plants represent source drugs alternative medicine fighting diseases. Plants rich sources valuable secondary metabolites, such as alkaloids, quinones, tannins, terpenoids, flavonoids, polyphenols. Many studies focus on plant metabolites potential antibiotic discovery. They required structural properties can act different mechanisms. This review analyses strategies produced multidrug-resistant explores phytochemicals from classes with documented antimicrobial action bacteria, either alone or in combination traditional antibiotics.

Chronic and recurrent bacterial infections are frequently associated with the formation of biofilms on biotic or abiotic materials that composed mono- multi-species cultures bacteria/fungi embedded in an extracellular matrix produced by microorganisms. Biofilm is, among others, regulated quorum sensing (QS) which is interbacterial communication system usually two-component systems (TCSs) secreted autoinducer compounds activate signal transduction pathways through interaction their respective receptors. Embedded biofilms, bacteria protected from environmental stress stimuli, they often show reduced responses to antibiotics, making it difficult eradicate infection. Besides penetration antibiotics intricate structure sessile biofilm-embedded metabolic activity them intrinsically less sensitive antibiotics. Moreover, express elevated levels efflux pumps extrude thereby reducing intracellular levels. Some involved secretion QS biofilm-related materials, besides being important for removing toxic substances bacteria. pump inhibitors (EPIs) have been shown both prevent biofilm sensitize suggesting a relationship between these processes. Additionally, quenchers may affect antibiotic susceptibility. Thus, targeting elements regulate might be promising approach combat antibiotic-resistant infections.

Quercetin, a flavonoid found in vegetables and fruits, has been extensively studied for its health benefits disease management. Its role the prevention of various pathogenesis well-documented, primarily through ability to inhibit oxidative stress, inflammation, enhance endogenous antioxidant defense mechanisms. Electronic databases such as Google Scholar, Scopus, PubMed, Medline, Web Science were searched information regarding quercetin pathogeneses. The included literature comprised experimental studies, randomized controlled trials, epidemiological studies related quercetin, while editorials, case analyses, theses, letters excluded. It reported have wide range including hepatoprotective, antidiabetic, anti-obesity, neuroprotective, cardioprotective, wound healing, antimicrobial, immunomodulatory effects, achieved modulation biological activities. Additionally, numerous vitro vivo shown that quercetin’s efficacies cancer management involve inhibiting cell signaling pathways, cycle, angiogenesis, activating pathways tumor suppressor genes, inducing apoptosis. This review aims provide comprehensive understanding this outlines sources nanoformulations, applications management, along with key findings from important clinical trial studies. Limited data safety mechanism action are available. is conduct more trials gain deeper disease-preventive potential, mechanisms action, safety, optimal therapeutic dosages. Furthermore, research based on nanoformulations should be performed minimize/overcome hindrance associated bioavailability, rapid degradation, toxicity.
