Abstract The present study aims to analyze country-specific antidepressant consumption rates across 30 OECD countries, comparing them with the average from 2010 2020. This analysis examines annual variations in and identifies potential trends over time. Using a retrospective observational design, employs pooled secondary data countries. A time trend was conducted assess overall linear quadratic trends, modeling variation Defined Daily Dose (DDD) per 1,000 inhabitants Findings reveal significant increase most mean DDD value rose 52.42 69.5 Three distinct patterns emerged: linear, concave, convex. While 15 countries exhibited increase, five showed plateauing trend, others experienced exponential growth convex trajectory. Denmark only country show decline consumption, whereas Norway displayed no change These results underscore notable rise use alongside trajectories. By assessing national rates, this highlights importance of international collaboration addressing mental health challenges optimizing healthcare accessibility outcomes.

Background Depression and anxiety have increased in prevalence since the start of COVID-19 pandemic. Objective To evaluate consumption antidepressants anxiolytics from 2012 to 2022 pandemic’s potential impact France. Methods We conducted an interrupted time series analysis routine drug sales data (Medic'AM) all French outpatient pharmacies 2022. investigated trends defined daily doses sold per 1000 inhabitants (DDD/TID) related expenditures before after pandemic onset relation with stringency mitigation measures. Analyses were performed descriptively using segmented linear regression, autoregressive integrated moving average models. Findings From 2019, overall monthly antidepressant (+0.02 DDD/TID) while anxiolytic decreased (−0.07 DDD/TID). With onset, there was a relevant persisting trend increase (+0.20 DDD/TID month) for overall, estimated excess 112.6 May 2020 until December Anxiolytic elevated February throughout but returned expected levels by 2022, 33.8 DDD/TID. There no evident association between or sales. Conclusions This study showed protracted increases temporary. Clinical implications provide evidence that may had long-lasting consequences on treatment depression disorders, requiring further actions researchers policy-makers address this public mental health crisis.

SSRIs most commonly class, accounting 63.71% of prescriptions, sertraline being common drug (24.65%). Females accounted 66.11% patient population. increased females more likely receive TCAs SNRIs than males, had higher rates use. revealed notable increase Iran, particularly among women older individuals.
