Electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) may lead to public health benefit if they help people who smoke quit smoking, and harm recruit a new generation of nicotine-dependent people. Regulators intent on maximising ENDS’ minimising be interested in regulating the dose delivered by ENDS single puff. The per-puff is product emission rate (or ‘nicotine flux’) duration puff taken person using ‘puff duration’). Nicotine flux can measured or predicted mathematically for any device/liquid combination. Puff controlled electronically, as demonstrated several marketed today. Combining regulation feasible today provides authorities means limit per level that smoking while reducing possibility nicotine-naive individuals will engage repeated use. Tobacco regulatory science both improved rigorous approach understanding, characterising, reporting emitted ENDS.

The electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) market is heterogeneous with a wide variety of devices and liquids available to consumers. People distinct sociodemographic characteristics may have different ENDS device liquid preferences. 1290 U.S. adults (21 + ) using 5 days/week completed the Wave (February-April 2023) VAPER study survey submitted photos their most used liquid. Latent class analysis (LCA) was performed based on cigarette smoking status identify groups among respondents. We examined association between identified (disposable device/disposable pod/refillable pod/tank, power/airflow/coil modifiability)/liquid (nicotine salt/freebase) groupings found by exploratory factor analysis. Among our sample, there were three frequently ENDS: (1) group women who are older, heterosexual, smoked cigarettes (62 % sample); (2) men higher-income heterosexual (23 (3) younger LGBTQ+ (16 sample). third more likely use non-adjustable disposable salt less adjustable tanks freebase than other two (p < 0.001). ENDS. LGBTQ from in characteristics. Our findings can enhance understanding people inform expected impacts regulatory efforts protect public health.
