This article addresses the study of governance process and influence urban heat islands in city Quevedo on coast Ecuador, thus contributes to production technical scientific information with a view their mitigation. To identify UHI pattern visualize temperature distribution soil surface, light intensity patterns surface are identified by digital processing Landsat 7 ETM image. The NDVI, NDSI, SAVI indices were also calculated, AQI was subsequently obtained using weighted numerical cross-tabulation. results show that NDVI indicators correlated each other present strong positive classification neighborhoods special areas which there is high proportion vegetation, while NSI positively areas. greater built-up roads. From comprehensive analysis reviewed indicators, authors derived an environmental quality index explains beneficial effects vegetation negatively detrimental covered cement.
