Parents of children with developmental, behavioural and mental health disorders are increasingly asking whether medicinal cannabis might be a therapeutic option for their child. This paper presents the current evidence in this population. Preliminary from open-label studies suggests potential to ameliorate some symptoms autism spectrum disorder. However, only one double-blind placebo-controlled trial has been completed, inconclusive findings. Synthetic, transdermal cannabidiol gel demonstrated efficacy reducing social avoidance sub-group Fragile X syndrome. Studies planned or underway and/or adolescents autism, intellectual disability, Tourette’s syndrome, anxiety, psychosis, anorexia nervosa number specific neurodevelopmental syndromes. High quality trials is needed guide clinical practice.

Abstract Background Classical antiemetics that target the serotonin system may not be effective in treating certain nausea and vomiting conditions like cyclic syndrome (CVS) cannabinoid hyperemesis (CHS). As a result, there is need for better therapies to manage symptoms of these disorders, including nausea, vomiting, anxiety. Cannabis often used its purported antiemetic anxiolytic effects, given regulation processes by endocannabinoid (ECS). However, considerable evidence cannabinoids can also produce increase anxiety instances, especially at higher doses. This paradoxical effect on due dysregulation ECS, altering how it maintains contributing pathophysiology CVS or CHS. Purpose The purpose this review highlight involvement ECS stress, vomiting. We discuss prolonged cannabis use, such as case CHS heightened dysregulate affect modulation functions. examines roles stress systems' dysfunction understand underlying mechanisms conditions.

Substance use and the emergence of Novel Psychoactive Substances (NPS) present a significant public health challenge diagnostic dilemma, particularly in context psychosis. The increasing availability psychoactive substances among youth has led to rise Use Disorders (SUDs), with profound implications for mental health. This paper explores psychopathological distinctions between substance-induced psychoses (SIPs) endogenous psychoses, such as schizophrenia, from phenomenological perspective. We emphasize three key aspects: dissociation, automatism, temporality, elucidate underlying mechanisms these conditions. Dissociation, organizer, is central exogenous those triggered by NPS. phenomenon leads fragmentation consciousness, detachment reality, disintegration identity, distinct spaltung observed psychoses. concept theorized De Clerambault, also explored, highlighting its role early stages where cognitive disruptions precede delusions hallucinations. Furthermore, temporal experience SIPs characterized disconnection past future, trapping individuals an “eternal present.” contrasts fragmented temporality patients struggle maintain coherent narrative their lives. approach provides critical insights into clinical differentiation Primary Psychotic (PPDs), emphasizing need targeted interventions that address specific In conclusion, this underscores importance integrating psychopathology practice, face evolving landscape substance Understanding can inform more accurate diagnoses effective treatments, ultimately improving patient outcomes growing issue.

The widespread use of novel psychoactive substances (NPSs)-defined as new narcotic or psychotropic agents not classified under the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs 1961 Psychotropic Substances 1971-poses a significant challenge to contemporary mental health paradigms due their impact psychiatric disorders. This study revisits and expands upon theory automatism proposed by Gaëtan Gatian de Clérambault, aiming elucidate psychopathological mechanisms underlying substance-induced psychoses (SIP) distinction from non-induced (schizophrenia related disorders). Through phenomenological clinical investigation, we explore relevance in development toxic psychoses, drawing historical literature. research highlights distinctions between induced transition acute chronic psychosis states. De Clérambault's theory, supplemented Janet, Jackson, Bonhoeffer's contributions, provides foundational framework for understanding genesis SIP. Our findings suggest that NPS consumption, particularly among adolescents patients, significantly correlates with increased risks SIP, marked chronicity influenced biological lesions triggered substance use.
