Environmental light exposure plays a role in the entrainment of infant circadian rhythm, which is crucial for growth and development. This scoping review aims to evaluate existing literature linking development rhythm. conducted accordance with PRISMA-ScR guidelines. The search strategy was total six databases (PubMed, Cochrane Database Systematic Reviews, Science Direct, Google Scholar, Taylor Francis, Wiley) as August 2024. narrative studies, observational experimental studies published from 2012 2024 were extracted. These discussed on A 25 retrieved (3 6 16 reviews). Evidence showed that cycled lighting beneficial rhythm according 24-h light-dark cycle. Cycled improved nighttime sleep daytime wakefulness, promoting optimum Limited due ethical considerations infants study participants. Conclusions: Given benefits development, it should be implemented both healthcare home settings promote infant.

ABSTRACT Consciousness develops gradually in the womb and after birth, rather than being an all or none phenomenon. A newborn infant is aroused wakes up at due to enormous sensory stimulation stress that it undergoes during transition from aquatic environment air. Its first breaths activate locus coeruleus, as indicated by large pupils of newborn. The seems be aware its body can recognise mother's facial expressions, voice smell. default mode network matures soon birth which appears keep brain a conscious state. Thus probably conscious, albeit low level. foetus also shows some signs about 24 weeks gestation, although mainly asleep less environment. Before stage, nerves primary somatosensory, visual auditory areas are not yet connected with site consciousness cerebral cortex.

Most lifeforms on earth use endogenous, so-called circadian clocks to adapt 24-h cycles in environmental demands driven by the planet’s rotation around its axis. Interactions with environment change over course of a lifetime, and so does regulation clock system. In this review, we summarize how develop humans experimental rodents during embryonic development, they mature after birth what changes occur puberty, adolescence increasing age. Special emphasis is laid reproductive systems as major organizers life segments span. We discuss differences sexes outline potential areas for future research. Finally, options medical applications lifespan chronobiology are discussed.

Background: It is known that psychosocial distress affects the morbidity and mortality of patients with cardiovascular disease every age. The aim this study was to produce novel information on how psychological can influence performance in after cardiac surgery undergoing multidisciplinary rehabilitation. Methods: Patients (n = 57) admitted for valvular or coronary underwent, within 5 days admission, Symptom Checklist-90-Revised (SCL-90-R) self-report questionnaire measure psychiatric symptoms 12-item General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12) assess level distress. Positive Distress Index (PSDI) measured indicate amplitude symptom Cardiovascular assessed by a 6 min walking test (6MWT) at admission discharge, oxygen consumption (VO2 max) derived. Results: Within SCL-90-R score, somatic (47.4%), depressive anxiety (36.8% 33.3%, respectively), phobic (21.1%), psychoticism (24.6%) were over-represented. As GHQ-12, 75.4% sample reported an abnormally negative perception their health status. An inverse correlation shown between variation 6MWT SCL depression (p 0.048), PSDI 0.022), GHQ-12 0.040). Similarly, VO2 max, 0.041), 0.023). Conclusions: Post-cardiac rehabilitation associated increased discomfort, as compared general population. distress, depression, hostility are limited improvement performance. These data strengthen need support during programs.

However, specific nature of human nervous system, intended for plasticity is varied by area prolonged over time, requires much time environmental experiences shape cerebral circuitries. Therefore, neonate completely depends on caregiver, during first months postnatal life, it exhibits a transitory limited repertoire behaviors skills favors mother in her new role. This condition will gradually give way more mature competencies, within 2 years age. review takes perspective early attempts trace remarkable changes from in-utero period second year posing bridge between neurobiological substrate behavioral development. We based our work "normal" development, pointing out risks inherent any process.

Abstract Gyrification, the intricate folding of brain’s cortex, begins mid-gestation and surges dramatically throughout perinatal period. Yet, a critical factor has been largely overlooked in neurodevelopmental research: profound impact birth on brain structure. Leveraging largest known MRI dataset—819 sessions spanning 21 to 45 postconceptional weeks—we reveal burst gyrification immediately following (~37 weeks post-conception), amounting half entire expansion occurring during fetal Using state-of-the-art, homogenized imaging processing tools across varied acquisition protocols, applying regression discontinuity design approach that is novel neuroimaging, we provide first evidence sudden, birth-triggered shift cortical development. Investigation additional features confirms this effect uniquely confined gyrification. This finding sheds light onto understanding early development, suggesting neurobiological consequences may hold significant behavioral physiological relevance.

Detecting different wavelengths and intensities of environmental light is crucial for the survival many animals. In response, a multiplicity opsins (a special group photosensitive G protein-coupled receptors), when combined with retinal chromophore, able to directly detect initiate downstream phototransduction signaling cascades. Although avian studies from 1930s suggested presence deep brain photoreceptors that could respond seasonal changes in light/dark cycle, it was only few decades ago photopigments other than those found visual system (i.e. rods cones) were identified as functional photoreceptors. It now established several classes non-visual they express, lower vertebrates higher mammals alike, can regulate plethora mechanisms function outside vision. Specifically, these shown expressed during early embryogenesis throughout adulthood, which will discussed here. Moreover, this review highlights recent focus on key non-image-forming particular impact photoreception developing structures pathways, well adulthood.
