Introduction Enterotoxic Escherichia coli (ETEC) is the main pathogen that causes diarrhea, especially in young children. This disease can lead to substantial morbidity and mortality a major global health concern. Managing ETEC infections challenging owing increasing prevalence of antibiotic resistance. Berberine, categorized as substance with similarities “medicine food,” has been used China for hundreds years treat gastrointestinal disorders bacteria-induced diarrhea. study investigated preventive effect dietary berberine on intestinal mucosal barrier induced by microbial community within intestines weaned piglets. Methods Twenty-four piglets were randomly divided into four groups. Piglets administered either standard diet or supplemented at concentrations 0.05 0.1%. orally saline. Results Dietary supplementation reduced diamine oxidase, d-lactate, endotoxin levels infected ( P < 0.05). Berberine increased jejunal villus height, villus/crypt ratio, thickness 0.05), goblet cell numbers villi crypts Furthermore, optical density mucin 2 2, P-glycoprotein, CYP3A4 mRNA expression expressions zonula occludins-1 (ZO-1), occludins-2 (ZO-2), Claudin-1, Occludin, E-cadherin ileum Moreover, BCL2, epithelial apoptosis 0.05) decreased BAX BAK duodenum jejunum, well CASP3 CASP9 IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α, IFN-γ elevated total volatile fatty acids, acetic acid, propionic valeric isovaleric acid Notably, enhanced abundance beneficial bacteria including Enterococcus, Holdemanella, Weissella, Pediococcus, Muribaculum, Colidextribacter, Agathobacter, Roseburia, Clostridium, Fusicatenibacter , Bifidobacterium . Simultaneously, relative harmful pathogenic bacteria, such Prevotella, Paraprevotella, Corynebacterium, Catenisphaera, Streptococcus, Enterobacter Collinsella Discussion alleviated ETEC-induced damage models. associated enhancement physical, chemical, immune functions enhancing microbiota homeostasis.

The concept of substances medicine food homology (SMFH) has garnered significant attention in recent years. This study conducts a systematic analysis patent literature related to SMFH, and elucidates the development trends, technical hotspots, overall protection landscape SMFH China over past two decades. search focused on varieties as objects inquiry, with retrieval conducted databases. Subsequently, acquired data underwent processing, analysis, visualization. While threshold for pharmaceutical applications surpasses that service sector, former may assume prominent role future. Research (R&D) activities southeast demonstrate robust activity than other regions. Colleges scientific research institutions exhibit substantial advantages compared individuals hold greater potential future development. findings this indicate China's industry are presently undergoing transition from an extensive model high-quality model. quality standards products consistently improving. Consequently, there is need more stringent application requirements align evolving needs.

Introduction Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) is the main diarrhea-causing pathogen in children and young animals has become a global health concern. Berberine type of “medicine food homology” long history use China, particularly treating gastrointestinal disorders bacterial diarrhea. Methods In this study, we explored effects berberine on growth performance, intestinal inflammation, oxidative damage, microbiota weaned piglet model ETEC infection. Twenty-four piglets were randomly divided into four groups—a control group (fed basal diet [BD] infused with saline), BD+ETEC ETEC), LB+ETEC 0.05% infection), HB+ETEC 0.1% ETEC). Results significantly improved final body weight (BW), average daily gain (ADG), feed intake (ADFI) ( P <0.05) piglets, effectively decreased incidence diarrhea among <0.05). Additionally, downregulated expression levels genes encoding TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, TLR4, MyD88, NF-κB, IKKα, IKKβ small intestine infection upregulated coding for Nrf2, CAT, SOD1, GPX1, GST, NQO1, HO-1, GCLC, GCLM 12 functional COG categories 7 KEGG signaling pathways. A correlation analysis showed that increased relative abundance beneficial bacteria (Gemmiger, Pediococcus, Levilactobacillus, Clostridium, Lactiplantibacillus, Weissella, Enterococcus, Blautia, Butyricicoccus) pathogenic (Prevotella, Streptococcus, Parabacteroides, Flavonifractor, Alloprevotella) known to be closely related inflammation stress piglets. conclusion, disrupted upregulating TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB Nrf2 pathways, consequently leading stress-induced damage. Discussion Our data indicated can optimize balance modulate thus helping alleviate damage caused by

Acute kidney injury (AKI) represents significant medical challenges due to its elevated rates of morbidity and mortality, with limited therapeutic options currently available. Hence, the exploration novel medicinal treatments for AKI management remains vital. Substances medicine food homology (SMFH), referring substances having characteristics both medicine, have been applied in China thousands years. They could be used daily diets body conditioning. Traditional Chinese (TCM), naturally derived components demonstrated effectiveness, presents distinctive benefits treatment. Numerous studies shown that SMFH TCM phytochemicals function satisfactorily nephroprotective effects a effect on alleviating as well complications. In this review, pathogenesis was illustrated. We concentrated against tried summarize underlying mechanisms various kinds AKI, highlighting crucial phytochemical prevention therapy. Besides, strategies globalization are analysed. This review comprehensively reveals exhibit promising potential intervention by targeting signal pathways targets, which would contribute AKI's cognition, preventive treatments, global promotion.
