Ethnopharmacological relevanceHemp (Cannabis sativa L.) is increasingly being recognized for its medicinal properties beside utilizing it food, oil, and textile fibers. The high level of cannabidiol (CBD) content in hemp's flowers shows promising neuroprotective without causing psychotomimetic or addictive effects. Recently, CBD has been used as a treatment reducing stress-related cognitive impairment. However, the therapeutic potential hemp extract inadequate.Aim studyTo investigate effect CBD-enriched on learning memory, neuroendocrine alterations, hippocampal neuropathological changes chronic restraint stress model.Materials methodsChronic (CRS) was induced male Wistar rats by immobilizing them restrainer 6 hours per day 21 consecutive days. (10 30 mg/kg, intraperitoneal injection) administered daily, 1 hour before restraint. After last CRS, behavioral tests cognition were conducted using Y-maze object recognition tests. Serum corticosterone (CORT) levels measured ELISA. Histopathological changes, neuronal density, activation microglia astrocytes visualized cresyl violet immunohistochemical staining.ResultsA dose effectively ameliorated CRS-induced impairment reversed HPA axis hyperactivity CRS CORT adrenal gland weight. Additionally, protected damage to neurons. Further analysis showed that CBD-enrichedhemp reduced specific markers microglial (ionized calcium-binding adaptor molecule-1, Iba-1) astrocytic structural protein (glial fibrillary acidic protein, GFAP) rats.ConclusionCBD-enriched extracts remarkably stress-induced perturbations damage, suggesting ameliorative response.

Background Some evidence suggests that cannabidiol (CBD) has potential to help alleviate HIV symptoms due its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Here we examined acute CBD effects on various behaviors the endocannabinoid system in Tat transgenic mice. Methods mice (female/male) were injected with (3, 10, 30 mg/kg) assessed for antinociception, activity, coordination, anxiety-like behavior, recognition memory. Brains taken quantify endocannabinoids, cannabinoid receptors, catabolic enzymes. Additionally, metabolite 7-hydroxy-CBD quantified plasma cortex. Results decreased supraspinal-related nociception locomotion. sex had little no any of behavioral measures. For male was associated elevated concentration proinflammatory arachidonic acid CNS regions, including cerebellum also showed higher FAAH expression levels Tat(+) males. GPR55 striatum females compared metabolism altered by expression. Conclusion Findings indicate are not Tat, minimal behavior system.
