Melatonin is indispensable for the homeostasis of plants and animals. In humans, it can help prevent or be an adjuvant treatment several diseases mainly related to immune system, inflammation, oxidative stress. Moreover, a melatonin-rich diet linked health benefits, such as regulation circadian rhythm, immunological epilepsy control, delaying aging process, diminishing hormones cancer. This review aimed show effects melatonin in beyond its traditional use. The results showed present scavenging free radicals, reducing inflammatory cytokines, modulating system. improve insulin resistance, blood pressure, LDL-c, adipose tissue mass, adhesion molecules, endothelial impairment, plaque formation. These result neuro- cardioprotection, improvement liver diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, dermatitis, COVID-19, polycystic ovaries, sepsis. We conclude that plant benefit patients with many besides sleep problems neurodegeneration. Plant may more cost-effective fewer adverse events than synthetic. Chlorophylls are a group of naturally occurring pigments that responsible for the green color in plants. This pigment could have numerous health benefits due to its high antioxidant activity, including anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and anti-obesity properties. Many food by-products contain level chlorophyll content. These discarded considered environmental pollutants if not used as source bioactive compounds. The recovery chlorophylls from is an interesting approach increasing sustainability production. paper provides insight into properties effect different treatments on their stability, then reviews latest research extraction sustainable perspective.

Abstract Seed germination (SG) is the first stage in a plant's life and has an immense importance sustaining crop production. Abiotic stresses reduce SG by increasing deterioration of seed quality, reducing potential, vigor. Thus, to achieve sustainable level yield, it important improve under abiotic stress conditions. Melatonin (MEL) biomolecule that interplays developmental processes regulates many adaptive responses plants, especially stresses. this review specifically summarizes discusses mechanistic basis MEL‐mediated MEL regulating some stress‐specific common responses. For instance, induced specific include regulation ionic homeostasis, hydrolysis storage proteins salinity stress, C‐repeat binding factors signaling cold starch metabolism high temperature heavy metal activation aquaporins accumulation osmolytes drought stress. On other hand, mediated gibberellins biosynthesis abscisic acid catabolism, redox Ca 2+ are amongst Nonetheless such as endogenous contents, plant species, growth conditions also influence above‐mentioned In conclusion, interacting with different physiological mechanisms.

Melatonin is a multiple-function molecule that was first identified in animals and later plants. Plant melatonin regulates versatile processes involved plant growth development, including seed germination, root architecture, flowering time, leaf senescence, fruit ripening, biomass production. Published reviews on have been focused two model plants: (1) Arabidopsis (2) rice, which the natural contents are quite low. Efforts to integrate function mechanism of determine how benefits human health also lacking. Barley unique cereal crop used for food, feed, malt. In this study, bioinformatics analysis identify genes required barley biosynthesis performed, after effects exogenous development were reviewed. Three integrated mechanisms cells found: serving as an antioxidant, modulating hormone crosstalk, (3) signaling through putative receptor. Reliable approaches characterizing biosynthetic modulate grains discussed. The interactions between nitric oxide (NO) and melatonin in alleviating sodium chloride (NaCl) toxicity plants are poorly comprehended. Here, the associations exogenous application of endogenous NO levels inducing tomato seedlings' defense response during NaCl were investigated. results indicated that (150 μM) increased height (23.7%) biomass (32.2%), improved chlorophyll (a (137%) b (92.8%)), proline metabolisms, reduced contents superoxide anion radicals (49.6%), hydrogen peroxide (31.4%), malondialdehyde (38%), electrolyte leakage (32.6%) 40-day-old seedlings grown under mM) treatment. Melatonin antioxidant system NaCl-stressed by increasing activity enzymes. also N metabolism content upregulating enzymes implicated assimilation. Furthermore, ionic balance Na NaCl-exposed expression genes involved K/Na ratio homeostasis (NHX1-4) accumulation mineral nutrients (P, N, Ca, Mg). However, addition cPTIO (100 μM; an scavenger) reversed beneficial impacts melatonin, indicating effective function melatonin-induced mechanisms seedlings. Therefore, our revealed improves tolerance mediating internal NO.
