This paper aimed at examining the related studies on relationship between teacher empathy and learner engagement in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learning contexts. With a growth mindset, individuals focus on the process of growth, actively seek challenges, recognise and accept failures, apply more effort monitor themselves to overcome difficulties. Doing so translates into excellent academic performance. However, it has not yet been fully clarified how mindset affects delay gratification (ADG) mechanisms underlying their interactions. In this study, grit self-efficacy were tested as mediating between ADG using serial mediation effect model based self-determination theory (SDT).A cross-sectional design was conducted with 759 Chinese junior high school students following tools: Growth Mindset Scale, Short Grit Academic Self-efficacy Delay Gratification Scale. Hypotheses structural equation modeling.The results showed that: (1) by gender grade control, indicated positive significance in prediction ADG; (2) played role influence ADG. also have ADG.The that does only directly affect but indirectly through self-efficacy. Abstract This study examined the relationships between first-year university students’ academic motivation, retrospective evaluation of school experiences, subjective well-being, engagement and intention to drop out. Self-determination theory, SInAPSi model engagement, hedonic approach, judgment process were used frame study. A final sample 565 Italian students enrolled in Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathematics (STEM) courses (Biology, Biotechnologies, Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics) was included. Three mediation models based on structural equations tested analyse proposed variables: motivation as an antecedent dropout with only commitment a mediator (model 1); 1 + well-being second 2); 2 judgement 3).
