Odor emissions from animal manure present a significant environmental challenge in livestock farming, impacting air quality and farm sustainability. Traditional methods, such as chemical additives treatment, can be costly, labor-intensive, less eco-friendly. Therefore, this study investigated the effectiveness of microbial feed reducing these odors. Conducted over three months 2022 on Korean beef cattle with 20 cattle, experiment involved feeding mixture four strains—Bacillus subtilis KNU-11, Lactobacillus acidophilus KNU-02, casei KNU-12, Saccharomyces cerevisiae KNU-06. Manure samples were collected an experimental group (n = 9) control 11), community changes assessed through 16S ribosomal RNA gene amplicon sequencing. The results demonstrated reductions specific odorous compounds compared to group: ammonia decreased by 64.1%, dimethyl sulfide 81.3%, butyric acid 84.6%, isovaleric 49.8%. Additionally, there was notable shift microbiome, increase relative abundance Ruminococcaceae Prevotellaceae microbes associated fiver degradation fermentation, while had higher levels Bacteroidota Spirochaetota, which are linked pathogenicity. This demonstrates that probiotics effectively alter intestinal microbiota enhance microorganisms odor mitigation, offering promising more sustainable approach farming.
