The healthy properties of pomegranate fruit, a highly consumed food, have been known for long time. However, the supply chain is still rather inefficient, with non-edible fraction, whose weight roughly half total and endowed plenty valuable bioactive compounds, either disposed or underutilized. A novel extract obtained from byproducts (called PPE), using hydrodynamic cavitation, green, efficient, scalable technique, was investigated its cardiovascular effects in vivo. PPE showed efficacy an acute phenylephrine (PE)-induced hypertensive rat model, similar to whole fruit (PFE) same extractive along good intestinal bioaccessibility after oral administration. Finally, when chronically administered 6 weeks spontaneously rats, shown significantly contain increase systolic blood pressure, comparable reference drug Captopril, at dose remarkably lower than reported effective ellagic acid. fraction also anti-inflammation anti-fibrotic effects. findings this study, extraction could contribute enhancing value chain, relieve related environmental burden, potentially improve public health.

Pomegranates are nutrient-rich fruits renowned for their vibrant ruby-red seeds and antioxidant properties. With a rich history rooted in various cultures, pomegranates have gained widespread popularity distinct flavor potential health benefits. Timely detection understanding of the growth stages can facilitate optimized resource allocation, targeted interventions, efficient crop management. Additionally, early contributes to maximizing yield, ensuring product quality, mitigating risks such as diseases pest infestations. The primary goal present study is pomegranate using an approach. We conducted our experiments standard image data stages, comprising 5857 files categorized into five classes: Bud, Early-Fruit, Flower, Mid-growth, Ripe. propose transfer learning-based CRnet approach capture spatial features from images depicting growth. extracted serve inputs random forest method, resulting creation new probabilistic feature set. These assist proposed model performing stages. To evaluate performance, we implemented state-of-the-art classification techniques, including Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), K-Neighbors Classifier (KNC), Gaussian Naive Bayes (GNB), Logistic Regression (LR). ensure accuracy applied machine learning methods, utilized hyperparameter optimization k-fold-based cross-validation technique. computational complexity determined. Food waste and food by-products have gained considerable attention in recent years. Based on the principles of circular economy, these materials can be used for preparation novel biodegradable packaging preservation. Among matrices that been well exploited, poly-lactic acid (PLA) comprises a key material to fortified with by-products, as shown by numerous studies literature. In this context, aim present review was provide an overview literature most trends use PLA prepare films shelf-life extension foods animal or plant origin. Hydrodynamic cavitation (HC), as an effective, efficient, and scalable extraction technique for natural products, could enable the affordable production of valuable antioxidant extracts from plant resources. For first time, whole pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) fruits, rich in bioactive phytochemicals endowed with anti-cancer properties, were extracted water using HC. Aqueous fractions sequentially collected during process (M1–M5) lyophilized (L), filtered (A), or used such, i.e., crude (C), analyzed their biochemical profile vitro power. The M3 M4 L C series showed highest antiradical activity phytochemical content. While form is preferable application purposes, sample L-M3, which was produced faster lower energy consumption than M4, to assess potential antiproliferative effect on human breast cancer line (AU565-PAR) peripheral blood mononuclear (PBMC) cells healthy donors. In a pilot study, cell growth, death, redox state assessed, showing that L-M3 significantly reduced tumor proliferation intracellular oxygen reactive species. No PBMCs detected. Thus, phytocomplex quickly (15 min), at room temperature (30 °C), efficiently anticancer without harming cells.
