The nutrients present in food are not only prone to a series of physicochemical reactions but also provide conditions for the growth and reproduction foodborne microorganisms. In recent years, many innovative methods from different fields have been introduced into preservation, which extends shelf life while maximizing preservation original ingredients properties food. this field, there is lack systematic summary new technologies emerging. view this, we overview applied field 3 focusing on variety technological approaches such as antimicrobial photodynamic therapy based nanotechnology, electromagnetic radiation sterilization technology, peptides biomolecules. We discuss mechanism application specific categories products. evaluated their advantages limitations industry, describing development prospects. addition, microorganisms main causes spoilage, our review has reference significance clinical antibacterial treatment.

Citrus by-products, especially orange peels, are a significant global waste issue, driving research into management solutions. Solid-substrate fermentation is promising method to convert this valuable resources, enhancing its medicinal and nutritional potential while addressing environmental economic concerns in food management. Therefore, study was carried out evaluate the impact of solid-substrate (SSF) with Penicillium camemberti on nutrient profile, antioxidative properties, neuroprotective effects peels AlCl3 (Al)-induced neurotoxicity fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster) model. Orange were collected, air-dried constant weight, subjected 10-day SSF process camemberti. Post-fermentation, vitro profiling, antioxidant assays conducted, alongside vivo assessments survival rate, memory index, monoamine oxidase (MAO) activity, endogenous markers Al-induced flies determined. The results showed that significantly enhanced composition compared their unfermented counterparts. properties fermented (p < 0.05) increased, as evidenced by increased DPPH scavenging activity (81.68 ± 0.18) ferric reducing power (10.77 0.27). Additionally, biochemical revealed improvement rates indices flies. Also, levels reduced, glutathione S-transferase (GST) elevated induced fed samples. Conclusively, highlights capability converting profile citrus for applications livestock feed therapeutic interventions degenerative disorders.

ABSTRACT Citrus peels are rich in bioactive phenolic compounds with various health effects including antioxidant, antiobesity, antiinflammatory, antihypertensive, antihypercholesterolemic, antimicrobial, antidiabetic, and anticarcinogenic activities. Both extractable nonextractable phenolics present significant amounts peel diverse bioactivities. While can be recovered from the fruit by conventional extraction methods, remaining residues must released cell matrix first hydrolysis acid, alkali, or enzymes. Novel processing technologies help improvement of efficiency. Extreme process medium conditions degrade their bioactivity where encapsulation applied to improve stability, solubility, bioactivity. powder ascorbic acid dietary fiber besides extracts therefrom used as functional food ingredients extend shelf life provide benefits. In addition, antioxidant antimicrobial agents active packaging applications. Phenolic have also a potential nutraceuticals pharmaceuticals. this review, different forms peels, recovery, possible applications for upcycling industry presented.

Grapefruit extracts and black chokeberry juice have antioxidant antimicrobial properties. The aim of the experiment was to evaluate effect grapefruit-based preparations, Biosept Active Citrogrep, on germination, vigor, health carrot seeds. seeds two cultivars were soaked for 30 min in 0.25% preparations 5 25% juice. Standard ISTA methods used seed germination health. chemical composition applied analyzed with ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. differed significantly their composition, qualitatively quantitatively, but both them, flavanones flavones prevailed. improved especially cultivar, which characterized by a lower initial quality. significant positive correlations between at first final counts, as well contents flavones, identified this cultivar. Moreover, negative percentages diseased seedlings, dead seeds, infested Cladosporium spp., Epicoccum nigrum, Melanospora simplex, Ulocladium investigated compounds found. Chokeberry juice, higher concentration, showed some activity; however, it frequently stimulated growth fungi.
