The electron donor–acceptor (EDA) complexes have been extensively studied, which formed an electronically excited state, obviating the need for exogenous photocatalyst. Herein, we report a mild and efficient strategy photoinduced radical domino perfluoroalkylation/cyclization using N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylethane-1,2-diamine (TMEDA) as donor. This protocol could be well expanded to access various polycyclic quinazolinones containing perfluoroalkyl groups, exhibiting photocatalyst-free, good functional group tolerance, environmentally friendly features.

Abstract 1,n‐dicarbonyls are one of the most fascinating chemical feedstocks finding abundant usage in field pharmaceuticals. Besides, they utilized a plethora synthesis general synthetic organic chemistry. A number ‘conventional’ methods available for their synthesis, such as Stetter reaction, Baker‐Venkatraman rearrangement, oxidation vicinal diols, and deoxybenzoins, synonymous with unfriendly reagents conditions. In last 15 years or so, photocatalysis has taken world chemistry by remarkable renaissance. It is fair to say now that everybody loves light photoredox opened new gateway chemists towards milder, more simpler alternatives previously methods, allowing access many sensitive reactions products. this review, we present readers photochemical variety 1,n‐dicarbonyls. Diverse photocatalytic pathways these molecules have been discussed, placing special emphasis on mechanisms, giving reader an opportunity find all significant developments place.

Despite the notable advancements made over past decade in achieving carbon–carbon bonds by transition-metal-catalyzed cross-coupling processes, metal-free reactions for hydroacylation of aromatic alkynes via C(sp3)–H functionalization are still rare and highly desired. Here we report a reliable approach synthesis α,β-unsaturated ketones (chalcones) using MeCN:H2O as green solvent, Eosin Y organic photocatalyst, ambient air oxidant. More significantly, this strategy can effectively transform variety methyl arenes into desired product. With high atom efficiency, use solvents, nature, environmental friendliness, visible light renewable energy source, method is compatible with biologically active molecules.
