Abstract Neurodegenerative diseases (NDs) constitute a group of disorders characterized by the progressive deterioration nervous system functionality. Currently, precise etiological factors responsible for NDs remain incompletely elucidated, although it is probable that combination aging, genetic predisposition, and environmental stressors participate in this process. Accumulating evidence indicates viral infections, especially neurotropic viruses, can contribute to onset progression NDs. Background Observational studies have shown that oxidative stress (OS) is associated with Parkinson’s disease (PD). However, whether such observations reflect cause–effect remains largely unknown. To test this, we performed a two-sample bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to investigate the causal-effects between OS biomarkers and PD. Methods We selected summary statistics data for single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) catalase ( n = 13), glutathione peroxidases 12), superoxide dismutase vitamin A 7), C 10), E B12 8), folate 14), copper 6), Zinc iron 23) levels, corresponding PD from International Parkinson Disease Genomics Consortium (IPDGC, 33,674 cases 449,056 controls). Inverse-variance weighted (IVW) MR analyses were conducted estimate associations of Reverse was further predict causal effects on above biomarkers. Results As PD, IVW method suggested (Zn) levels significantly (OR 1.107, 95% CI 1.013–1.211; p 0.025), which consistent results median analyses. Moreover, remained robust in sensitivity analysis. there no significant catalase, peroxidases, dismutase, A, C, E, B12, folate, copper, or OS, our reverse also did not support effect liability OS. Conclusion The study supported Zn These findings may inform prevention strategies interventions directed toward

Abstract Background There is currently a lack of machine learning model studies exploring the relationship between oxidative stress score (OSS) and prognosis elderly Esophageal squamous cancer(ESCC) patients. MethodsThis study included ESCC patients who underwent curative resection surgery from January 2013 to December 2020. Machine strategies including decision tree (DT), random forest (RF), support vector (SVM) were employed construct predictive for 3-year overall survival (OS) elder base on OSS. ResultsPatients divided into derivation cohort validation cohort, consisted 340 145 patients, respectively. 8 important features which most factors influencing OS (pathological N stage, pathological T tumor histological type, vascular invasion, CEA, OSS, CA 19-9, amount bleeding) in training RF, DT SVM. In RF exhibited highest performance with an AUC 0.975(0.962-0.987), while 0.784(0.739-0.830) SVM 0.879(0.843-0.916). external showed similar trend . Conclusion The clinical prediction constructed based OSS can effectively predict after surgery.
