Abstract Purpose Unhealthy lifestyle increases the risk of comorbidities, reduced quality life, and cancer recurrence among breast survivors. It is important to identify emotional cognitive factors that may affect maintenance a healthy over time. This study examined associations perceived discrepancy, self-compassion, distress with survivors mediating role emotion regulation patterns (cognitive reappraisal expressive suppression) in these associations. Methods A total 145 female aged 31–77 completed self-reports on maintenance, distress, patterns. Structural equation modeling was used analyze data. Results Mean physical activity diet scores were moderate. The structural analysis showed good fit indicators (χ2 = 4.21, df 10, p .94; χ2/df 0.42; NFI .98; TLI 1.09; CFI 1.00; RMSEA .00, 95% CI (.00, .02)). Lower discrepancy directly associated higher (β −.34, < .01) =−.39, .01). Cognitive ( β .19, .01), suppression lower −.19, both mediated association between self-compassion activity. Conclusions reported this indicate psychosocial factors, especially patterns, are relevant survivors, because solely providing recommendations does not motivate individuals adhere them.
