This study aims to assess whether students’ learning styles have changed due the environmental context changes caused by COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. analysis is important because styles, in addition predicting vocational outcomes, must inform design of pedagogical practices and supports used teaching environment. To achieve this objective, a cross-sectional was conducted on three cohorts students who enrolled an engineering course. Students group 2 been under confinement conditions during previous year, while 3 for two years. Group 1 consists did not experience any confinement. The obtained results lead following conclusions: (i) outbreak has led changes, practices, personality profiles students, which can significantly impact entering degree. (ii) While some are more susceptible change, others remain resilient. (iii) duration exposure greater these styles.

Abstract In Spring 2020, institutions were forced to make rapid changes their teaching, attendance, assessment, and academic relief policies. Our institution moved all classes assessment online, removed most attendance policies, extended the drop deadline, allowed students alter grading system from A-F credit/no-credit. Most assessments continued be online in Fall 2020 2021, before returning typical pre-pandemic scheduling 2021. These accommodations necessary respond public health advice, student faculty illness, ongoing uncertainty at time. However, there are growing concerns about effect that pandemic associated policies had on learning preparation for follow-on courses. We analyze grade data withdrawal rate three large multi-section foundational mechanics courses between 2015 – 2022: Statics (91 sections), Mechanics of Deformable Bodies ('Deformables') (79 Dynamics (73 sections). Specifically, we look Grade Point Average (GPA) proportion receiving either D grades, F or withdrawing each course (collectively known as DFW rate). separate our into 4 time periods compare results across these periods: 2019 ('pre-pandemic'), ('early-pandemic'), 2021 ('mid-pandemic'), 2022 ('post-pandemic'). find a significant increase GPA decrease semester when institutional polices very lenient around Since (when both modality largely reverted) rates have been virtually identical rates. see decreases increases Deformables Dynamics. is prerequisite This general trend was observed almost members who taught this period, although size varied.
