The global COVID-19 pandemic, caused by SARS-CoV-2, has created an urgent need for novel antiviral agents, as it led to a devastating loss of lives worldwide. In response, numerous vaccines were developed in 2022, with ongoing efforts more candidates. Despite significant progress, reports vaccine-related issues and side effects have emerged. effectiveness been challenged new viral variants, lack well-designed vivo experiments, randomised controlled trials. Currently, no clinically approved medications exist treating COVID-19. However, few broad-spectrum drugs shown promising outcomes clinical studies. Many scientists believe that natural compounds derived from herbal medicines mushrooms could offer substantial benefits patients. Ganoderma, known its traditional use promoting health longevity, rich history therapeutic applications dietary supplementation. Numerous epidemiological studies demonstrated Ganoderma derivatives can enhance innate adaptive immune responses against various pathogens, including viruses, laboratory settings living organisms. Therefore, the secondary metabolites such triterpenoids, polysaccharides, glycoproteins, hold potential developing drugs. These mechanisms, inhibition replication, modulation responses, direct virucidal effects. Given search effective treatments COVID-19, bioactive stand out candidates further research development. Their multifaceted mechanisms make them suitable exploration agents potentially contributing enhancing existing treatments.

Curcumin, a hydrophobic polyphenol extracted from the rhizome of Curcuma longa, is now considered candidate drug for treatment neurological diseases, including Parkinson’s Disease (PD), Alzheimer’s (AD), Huntington’s (HD), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Amyotrophic Lateral (ALS), and prion disease, due to its potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant potential, anticancerous, immunomodulatory, neuroprotective, antiproliferative, antibacterial activities. Traditionally, curcumin has been used medicinal dietary purposes in Asia, India, China. However, low water solubility, poor stability blood, high rate metabolism, limited bioavailability, little capability cross blood–brain barrier (BBB) have clinical application curcumin, despite important pharmacological activities this drug. A variety nanocarriers, liposomes, micelles, dendrimers, cubosome nanoparticles, polymer solid lipid nanoparticles developed with great success effectively deliver active brain cells. Functionalization on surface brain-specific ligands makes them target-specific, which should significantly improve bioavailability reduce harmful effects. The aim review summarize studies and/or containing most common neurodegenerative highlighting neuroprotective potential nutraceutical.

Food safety is a global concern, with millions suffering from foodborne diseases annually. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports significant morbidity and mortality associated contaminated food consumption, this emphasizes the critical need for comprehensive measures. Recent attention has turned to postbiotics, metabolic byproducts of probiotics, as potential agents enhancing safety. Postbiotics, including organic acids, enzymes, bacteriocins, exhibit antimicrobial antioxidant properties that do not require live organisms, offers advantages over probiotics. This literature review critically examines role postbiotics in gut microbiome modulation applications industry. Dental caries is a biofilm-mediated disease that represents worldwide oral health issue. Streptococcus mutans has been ascertained as the main cariogenic pathogen responsible for human dental caries, with high ability to form biofilms, regulated by quorum sensing. Diarylureas represent class of organic compounds show numerous biological activities, including antimicrobial one. Two small molecules belonging this class, specifically diphenylureas, BPU (1,3-bis[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]urea) and DMTU (1,3-di-m-tolyl-urea), showed interesting results in studies regarding activity against bacterium S. mutans. Since there are not many antimicrobials used prevention treatment further on these two other diarylureas may be useful design new effective agents generally low cytotoxicity.
