The extraction of bioactive compounds pharmaceutical interest from natural sources has been significantly explored in recent decades. However, the techniques used were not very efficient terms time and energy consumption; additionally, solvents for harmful environment. To improve environmental impact extractions at same increase yields, several new developed. Among most ones are ultrasound-assisted microwave-assisted extraction. These increased yield selectivity a smaller amount with decrease consumption. Nevertheless, high volume organic was still extraction, causing subsequent problem. Neoteric appeared as green alternatives to solvents. neoteric solvents, deep eutectic evidenced be one best due their intrinsic characteristics. considered because they made up such sugars, amino acids, carboxylic acids having low toxicity degradability. In addition, simple prepare, an atomic economy 100%, attractive physicochemical properties. Furthermore, huge number that can synthesize these make them useful since tailored selective towards specific component or class components. main aim this paper is give comprehensive review which describes properties, characteristics, production methods well its application extract interest. Additionally, overview more sustainable also given.

Polyphenols are the largest group of phytochemicals with important biological properties. Their presence in conveniently available low-cost sources, such as agri-food by-products, has gained considerable attention their recovery and further exploitation. Retrieving polyphenols a green sustainable way is crucial. Recently, deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have been identified safe environmentally benign medium capable extracting efficiently. This review encompasses current knowledge applications DESs assisted technologies to extract from by-products. Particular paid fundamental mechanisms potential food, cosmetic, pharmaceutical industries. In this way, DESs-assisted advanced techniques offer promising opportunities recover by-products efficiently, contributing circular economy.

Hazelnut skins (HS) are usually managed as waste; however, this by-product is a source of bioactive compounds, with potential applications in feed and food sectors. Phenolic compounds can be extracted using green protocols combining enabling technologies solvents. This work investigates subcritical water extraction (SWE) from HS. A laboratory-scale study was performed on four different batches, significant batch-to-batch heterogeneity. The evaluation polyphenolic profiles antioxidant activities afforded promising results compared to the benchmark reflux maceration. To evaluate process effectiveness, protocol replicated semi-industrial plant that processed 8 kg matrix. Downstream processes have been optimized for scale-up, demonstrating effectiveness SWE retaining product concentration bioactivity avoiding excipients spray-drying phase. extracts exhibited antibacterial properties against animal- food-borne pathogens, supporting their use sustainable ingredients improved hazelnut production animal farming practices.

In the context of a circular economy, this study explores valorization blueberry pomace (BP) as source bioactive compounds using sustainable extraction methods. Microwave-assisted (MAE) and microwave-assisted subcritical water (MASWE) were employed to obtain two distinct fractions: MAE 1° MASWE 2°. The first extract, 1°, obtained at 80 °C, had high total anthocyanin content (21.96 mgCya-3-glu/gextract), making it suitable natural pigment. Additionally, exhibited significant enzyme inhibition, particularly against α-amylase β-glucosidase, suggesting potential anti-diabetic anti-viral applications. second 2°, 150 contained higher phenolic (211.73 mgGAE/gextract) demonstrated stronger antioxidant activity. 2° showed greater inhibition acetylcholinesterase tyrosinase, indicating its for use in Alzheimer’s treatment, skincare, or food preservative. cytotoxicity HeLa cells effectively mitigated H2O2-induced oxidative stress HaCat cells, with showing similar but less pronounced effects. A tested formulation combining extracts 3:2 ratio enhanced stability, demonstrating heat-stable extract characteristics compared conventional method (MeOH-HCl reflux condition), protocol’s sustainability was assessed several green metric tools, which provided insights into environmental impact efficiency.
