Abstract Purpose This study aimed to explore the prevalence and cost of wig purchases among patients with cancer in Okayama Prefecture, Japan, examine relationship between various demographic, social, clinical factors. Background Postoperative patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) confront not only physiological challenges but also psychological and social adaptation issues. It is imperative to enhance psycho-social adjustment (PSA) levels further improve the quality of life among this population. However, research on PSA in postoperative HCC lacking, investigations into its associations resilience, support, fear progression (FoP) remain unexplored currently. Objectives This study aims to: (1) investigate current status analyze influencing factors patients; (2) explore interrelationships FoP based Chronic Illness Adaptation Model employing a structural equation model. Methods Convenience sampling methods were employed recruit participants from Department Hepatobiliary Surgery at tertiary hospital Xi’an, Shaanxi, China, total 399 completed surveys. The survey instruments included general information questionnaire, Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), Social Support Rating (SSRS), Fear Progression Questionnaire-Short Form (FoP-Q-SF), Psychosocial Adjustment Self-report (PAIS-SR). Data entry was conducted using Epidata 3.1 dual verification, followed by statistical analyses performed SPSS 27.0 Amos 28.0. Results model revealed two paths. In Path 1 (psychological resilience → PSA), direct effect −0.383 (95% CI [−0.589, −0.112]), an indirect −0.075 [−0.170, −0.018]). 2 (social support −0.297 [−0.587, −0.063]), −0.069 [−0.156, −0.019]).
