Purpose
This
paper
aims
to

street
food

spaces

Introduction
First-mile
walking
(FMW)
supports
sustainable
mobility
and
public
health
by
enabling
utilitarian
recreational
walking.
However,
its
relationship
with
neighbourhood
walkability
physical
activity
remains
underexplored
in
tropical,
high-density
cities
like
Bangkok.
This
study
examines
these
associations.
Methods
A
cross-sectional
survey
of
881
Bangkok
residents
from
50
districts
assessed
(NEWS-A)
(GPAQ).
Multivariable
logistic
regression
models
examined
associations
between
walkability,
FMW,
sufficient
(≥150
min/week).
Results
Higher
significantly
increased
both
FMW.
High-rise
were
more
likely
to
engage
walking,
while
planned
high-rise
neighbourhoods
supported
Utilitarian
strongly
correlated
achieving
activity.
Conclusion
Neighbourhood
design
plays
a
critical
role
promoting
Policy
efforts
should
prioritise
pedestrian
infrastructure,
green
spaces,
transport
connectivity
