The role of probiotic supplementation in type 2 diabetes (T2D) treatment is controversial. present study aimed to assess the effects a multi-strain supplement (LactoLevureR (containing Lactobacillus acidophilus, plantarum, Bifidobacterium lactis, and Saccharomyces boulardii)) over 6 months, primarily on glycemic control as well lipid levels alterations gut microbiome, among individuals with T2D residing Greece. A total 91 adults (mean age [±SD] 65.12 ± 10.92 years, 62.6% males) were randomized receive or matching placebo capsule, once daily, for months. Blood chemistries anthropometric parameters conducted every 3 stool samples collected at baseline Significant reductions HbA1c, fasting blood glucose, cholesterol observed participants treated (n = 46) compared controls 45), even after adjustment greater decrease adiposity (waist circumference). Although there no statistically significant differences diversity microbiome (α β diversity), administration probiotics did influence several genera, metabolites, key enzymes associated diabetes. Overall, LactoLevureR 6-month period was well-tolerated had positive impact metabolic parameters, alongside improvements indices adiposity.

Postbiotics, which are bioactive substances derived from the metabolic processes of beneficial microbes, have received considerable attention in field microbiome science recent years, presenting a promising path for exploration and innovation. This comprehensive analysis looks into multidimensional terrain postbiotic production, including an extensive examination diverse classes, revealing their sophisticated mechanisms action highlighting future applications that might significantly affect human health. The authors thoroughly investigate various support ranging conventional fermentation procedures to cutting-edge enzyme conversion synthetic biology approaches. review, as acknowledgment field’s developing nature, not only highlights current achievements but also navigates through problems inherent production. In order successfully include postbiotics therapeutic interventions production functional food ingredients, emphasis is given critical elements, improving yields, bolstering stability, assuring safety. knowledge presented herein sheds light on expanding potential revolutionize development novel therapeutics ingredients.

Probiotics are frequently consumed as functional food and widely used dietary supplements, but also recommended in treating or preventing various gastrointestinal diseases. Therefore, their co-administration with other drugs is sometimes unavoidable even compulsory. Recent technological developments the pharmaceutical industry permitted development of novel drug-delivery systems for probiotics, allowing addition to therapy severely ill patients. Literature data regarding changes that probiotics could impose on efficacy safety chronic medication scarce. In this context, present paper aims review currently by international medical community, evaluate relationship between gut microbiota pathologies high impact worldwide and, most importantly, assess literature reports concerning ability influence pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics some drugs, especially those narrow therapeutic indexes. A better understanding potential drug metabolism, contribute improving management, facilitating individualized updating treatment guidelines.

Recently, probiotics are increasingly being used for human health. So far, only lactic acid bacteria isolated from the gastrointestinal tract were recommended use as probiotics. However, more authors suggest that can be also unconventional sources, such fermented food products of animal and plant origin. Traditional a rich source microorganisms, some which may have probiotic properties. A novel category recently microorganisms with great potential health benefits next-generation (NGPs). In this review, general information "beneficial microbes", including NGPs acetic bacteria, presented well essential mechanisms microbe host interactions. Many reports showed NGP selected strains sources exhibit positive properties when it comes to (i.e., they effect on metabolic, gastrointestinal, neurological, cardiovascular, immune system diseases). Here we briefly present current regulatory framework requirements should followed introduce new use. The term "probiotic" herein is not limited conventional Innovation will undoubtedly result in isolation fascinating advantages hitherto unforeseen functionalities.
