Abstract Background Any abrupt changes in the educational system can have a negative effect on students. Dental students at X University faced two undergraduate curriculum over two-year period, namely COVID-19 pandemic and national shift to three-term system. This research aims investigate of these dental Methods Semi-structured interviews were carried out with ten fifth-year students, who asked about their perception thoughts adaptation strategies. Results The results showed that high levels stress impaired academic achievements associated sudden curriculum. perceived transition negatively worse than what they experienced during pandemic. Academic misconduct is ubiquitous, a fortiori during crisis periods. The present research examines undergraduates’ learning motivation, based on Self-Determination Theory and personality traits factors, according to the Big Five Factor Model, affecting academic across different time spans: Before, during, after life-changing event. Using online questionnaires, we measured level of misconduct, 1090 social sciences students five spans pre-COVID-19, COVID-19 (before vaccination), (post long post). results showed significant differences in students’ self-reported levels among periods similar pre-COVID-19 post-COVID-19. Additionally, findings exhibited that external motivation significantly increases two out (agreeableness emotional stability) reduce their occurrences.
