Obesity has been associated with oxidative stress. Obese patients are at increased risk for diabetic cognitive dysfunction, indicating a pathological link between obesity, stress, and dysfunction. can induce the biological process of stress by disrupting adipose microenvironment (adipocytes, macrophages), mediating low-grade chronic inflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction (mitochondrial division, fusion). Furthermore, be implicated in insulin resistance, inflammation neural tissues, lipid metabolism disorders, affecting diabetics.

Abstract Background Neuronal ferroptosis plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of cognitive deficits. The present study explored whether artemisinin protected type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) mice from impairments by attenuating neuronal hippocampal CA1 region. Methods STZ-induced T2DM were treated with (40 mg/kg, i.p.), or cotreated and Nrf2 inhibitor MEL385 inducer erastin for 4 weeks. Cognitive performance was determined Morris water maze Y tests. Hippocampal ROS, MDA, GSH, Fe 2+ contents detected assay kits. Nrf2, p-Nrf2, HO-1, GPX4 proteins assessed Western blotting. neuron injury mitochondrial morphology observed using H&E staining transmission electron microscope, respectively. Results Artemisinin reversed diabetic impairments, decreased concentrations MDA , increased levels p-Nr2, GSH. Moreover, alleviated loss However, these neuroprotective effects abolished ML385 erastin. Conclusion effectively ameliorates neuropathological changes learning memory decline mice; underlying mechanism involves activation to inhibit hippocampus. Graphical

This study investigates the correlation between weight-adjusted waist index (WWI) and cognitive performance in senior American population, focusing on those without diabetes from 2011 to 2014. We analyzed data 2011-2012 2013-2014 National Health Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES), non-diabetic participants aged 60 older who completed tests: Establish a Registry for Alzheimer's disease (CERAD), Animal Fluency test (AFT), Digit Symbol Substitution (DSST). WWI was calculated using circumference divided by square root of body weight. employed linear univariate multivariate analyses, along with curve fitting, we conducted subgroup interaction analyses elucidate relationships under investigation. The incorporated cohort 1649 years older, each complete set data, enabling thorough analysis. After adjusting confounding factors, significant negative correlations were found both CERAD (β: -0.48; 95% CI: -0.92 -0.05; P=0.03) DSST -1.15; -2.09 -0.21; P=0.017) scores, suggesting link decline. No association AFT scores. relationship be nonlinear (P non-linearity=0.022). Additionally, also observed non-linearity=0.042). However, non-linearity=0.418). analysis overall stable. Our cross-sectional indicates strong high reduced function Americans, as shown Attaining an optimal may vital decline, highlighting its role potential preventative approach. design are publicly accessible at www.cdc.gov/nchs/nhanes/.

To investigate the relations of Triglyceride glucose (TyG) index with cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) burden and cognitive function in aged patients type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).A total 308 elderly T2DM were included this retrospective study. The standardized Chinese version Mini-Mental State Examination was used to assess function. CSVD score assessed by combining four imaging markers CSVD, including presence white matter hyperintensity, microbleeds deep, lacunes enlarged perivascular spaces basal ganglia. TyG calculated as formula ln [fasting triglyceride (mg/dl) × fasting plasma (mg/dl)/2]. We logistic regression analysis mediation function.Multivariate binary showed that increased (OR: 2.241; 95% Confidence Interval(CI): 1.439 3.490; P <0.001), or severe 2.198; CI: 1.283 3.763; = 0.004) associated an risk impairment after adjusting for potential confounders. Cognitive, mood and sleep disorders are common intractable of the central nervous system, causing great inconvenience to lives those affected. The gut–brain axis plays a vital role in studying neurological such as neurodegenerative diseases by acting channel for bidirectional information exchange between gut microbiota system. Dietary polyphenols have received widespread attention because their excellent biological activity wide range sources, structural diversity low toxicity. intervention through increased intake dietary is an emerging strategy improving circadian rhythms treating metabolic disorders. been shown play essential regulating intestinal flora, mainly maintaining balance flora enhancing host immunity, thereby suppressing pathologies. This paper reviewed interactions brain effects on focusing that regulate maintain health system axis.
