Abstract Rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, the most common forms of arthritis, are chronic, painful, disabling conditions. Although both diseases differ in etiology, they manifest progressive joint destruction characterized by pathological changes articular cartilage, bone, synovium. While potent anti-inflammatory properties therapeutic (i.e., exogenous) glucocorticoids have been heavily researched widely used clinical practice, role endogenous susceptibility disease progression remains poorly understood. Current evidence from mouse models suggests that local glucocorticoid signaling is upregulated pro-inflammatory microenvironment rheumatoid aging-related mechanisms osteoarthritis. Furthermore, these indicate macrophages, mast cells, chondrocytes has effects, while fibroblast-like synoviocytes, myocytes, osteoblasts, osteocytes actions arthritis. Conversely, osteoblasts destructive actions. Together studies provide insights into pathogenesis inflammatory degenerative disease.

Aging is the greatest risk factor for nearly all major chronic diseases, including cardiovascular cancer, Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases of aging. Age-related impairment immune function (immunosenescence) one important cause age-related morbidity mortality, which may extend beyond its role in infectious disease. One aspect immunosenescence that has received less attention natural killer (NK) cell dysfunction, characterized by reduced cytokine secretion decreased target cytotoxicity, accompanied despite an increase NK numbers with age. Moreover, recent studies have revealed cells are central actors immunosurveillance senescent cells, whose accumulation itself a probable contributor to sterile low-grade inflammation developed aging (“inflammaging”). dysfunction therefore implicated increasing burden infection, malignancy, inflammatory disorders, This review will focus on advances open questions understanding interplay between systemic inflammation, senescence burden, context Understanding factors driving enforcing potentially lead therapies countering underlying drivers biological process itself.

Stress is viewed as a state of real or perceived threat to homeostasis, the management which involves endocrine, nervous, and immune systems. These systems work independently interactively part stress response. The scientific literature, spans both animal human studies, contains heterogeneous findings about effects on brain body. This review seeks summarise integrate literature relationships between these systems, examining particularly roles physiological psychosocial stress, hormone cortisol, controlled by hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, cognitive functioning. Health conditions related impaired HPA axis functioning their associated neuropsychiatric symptoms will also be considered. Lastly, this provide suggestions clinical applicability for endocrinologists who are uniquely placed measure outcomes nervous system identify areas intervention.

Compared to other animal species, production has dramatically increased in the poultry sector. However, intensive systems, are subjected stress conditions that may compromise their well-being. Much like living organisms, respond various stressors by synthesising a group of evolutionarily conserved polypeptides named heat shock proteins (HSPs) maintain homeostasis. These proteins, as chaperones, play pivotal role protecting animals against re-establishing normal protein conformation and, thus, cellular In last few decades, many advances have been made ascertaining HSP response thermal and non-thermal poultry. The present review focuses on what is currently known about discusses factors modulate its induction regulatory mechanisms. development practical strategies alleviate detrimental effects environmental stresses will benefit from detailed studies describe mechanisms resilience enhance our understanding nature signalling gene expression.

Chronologically-aged skin displays multiple functional changes in both the dermis and epidermis. It appears that epidermal dysfunction, compromised permeability homeostasis, reduced stratum corneum hydration elevated surface pH predispose to development of aging-associated cutaneous extracutaneous disorders. Improvements function have been shown be an effective alternative therapy prevention treatment some disorders, including eczematous dermatitis, pruritus, xerosis. Recent studies demonstrated dysfunction leads chronic, low-grade systemic inflammation, termed 'inflammaging,' which is linked Thus, correction could comprise a novel strategy disorders as well. In this review, we summarize alterations function, their underlying mechanisms, clinical significance. Regimens improve elderly are also discussed.

Abstract Anxiety is recognized as a major health issue and quite prevalent among older adults. An efficient way to manage anxiety abdominal breathing. Breathing exercises seem reduce increase parasympathetic activity assessed by HRV indexes. Yet, the effect of breathing on physiological stress (HRV) in adults remains poorly understood. Therefore, aim this study test effects deep slow (DSB, low inhale/exhale ratio) (n = 22) comparison with younger ones 25). DSB increased significantly HFpower reduced state both Interestingly, HF power was higher than ones. As expected, ratio being not equal, RMSSD did following DSB. Thus, we provide evidence suggesting that more beneficial restore vagal outflow. Despite future work required, those results relevant clinical application leads promote successfull aging.

As there pharmacotherapeutic intervention for early stages cognitive decline, research has focused stimulation reversing or slowing impairment. Elderly patients diagnosed with mild impairment underwent a randomized-control trial mindful awareness practice. Neuropsychological assessments, inflammatory markers, profiles were tested. Here, we report their was improved associated bacterial profile. The study showed first-time, alteration capacity leading to corresponding profiles. This strongly suggests signals from different segments could dictate directly indirectly abundances specific microbes.
