The one‐pot, three‐component, synthesis of a new series 4‐hydroxy‐3‐(2‐arylimidazo[1,2‐ ]pyridin‐3‐yl)quinolin‐2(1 H )‐ones in the presence DABCO as catalyst has been achieved using aryl glyoxal monohydrates, quinoline‐2,4(1 ,3 )‐dione, and 2‐aminopyridine 2 O/EtOH under reflux conditions. cheapness organocatalyst, simple workup, operational simplicity, regioselectivity, high yields are some advantages this protocol.

Abstract A new series of benzo[5,6]chromeno[3,2- c ]quinoline derivatives were successfully synthesized using various arylglyoxal monohydrates, quinoline-2,4-dione, and β-naphthol in H 2 O:EtOH (2:1) as a green solvent the presence catalytic amounts p -toluenesulfonic acid mild catalyst under reflux conditions with high yields (83–92%). One-pot three components effective methods are reported for the synthesis of two important families organic compounds, 2H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidine-2,4(3H)-diones substituted 5-(3-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinonyl) and 1H-benzo[f]indole-4,9-diones 3-(3-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinonyl), by employment new starting materials. The formers were prepared via one-pot condensation reaction between phenylglyoxal, 2-hydroxynaphtoquinone 2-amino-1,4-naphthoquinone derivatives later through 2-hydroxy naphthoquinone derivatives. medium both procedures was acetic acid/water (1:1; v/v) at 100 °C, various these compounds obtained with high-efficiency identified their IR, 1H- 13C-NMR spectra. In spite apparent planar structures, NMR spectra some products shown asymmetric properties CH2 protons or existence diastereomers due to restriction Chydroxyquinoline˗Cpyrrol bonds, together formation relatively stable nonplanar eight membered ring resulted from hydrogen bond hydroxynapthoquinone’s OH carbonyl groups uracil motifs.
