Unhealthy dietary habits determined during childhood may represent a risk factor to many of the chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in adulthood. Mediterranean Diet (MD) adherence children and adolescents (8-16 years) living Spain was investigated using KIDMED questionnaire comparative analysis two cross-sectional nationwide representative studies: enKid (1998-2000, n = 1001) PASOS (2019-2020, 3540). Taking into account educational level pupils, as well characteristics place living, significant association found between score ≥ 8 (optimal MD adherence) primary education residency an area <50,000 inhabitants, while southern regions associated with non-optimal (p < 0.001). Participants 2019-2020 study showed increase consumption dairy products (31.1% increase), pasta/rice (15.4% olive oil (16.9% nuts (9.7% decreased sweets candies intake (12.6% reduction). In contrast, significantly lower when comparing (mean ± SE: 6.9 0.04) 1998-2000 (7.37 0.08); p 0.001), due less fish (20.3% reduction), pulse (19.4% fruits (14.9% increased commercial goods/pastries or fast-food (both 19.4% increase). The lowest recorded for also most recent study, where 10.9% them presented ≤ 3. This shows that eating are deteriorating among Spanish adolescents. Such findings point out urgency undertaking strong measures promote healthy, sustainable, non-ultra-processed food, such those available MD, not only at scientific academic level, but governmental one.

Cancer has become a serious problem worldwide, as it represents the main cause of death, and its incidence increased over years. A potential strategy to counter growing spread various forms cancer is adoption prevention strategies, in particular, use healthy lifestyles, such maintaining weight, following diet; being physically active; avoiding smoking, alcohol consumption, sun exposure; vitamin D supplementation. These modifiable risk factors are associated with this disease, contributing development, progression, severity. This review evaluates relationship between potentially overall specifically breast, colorectal, prostate cancer, highlights updated recommendations on prevention. The results numerous clinical epidemiological studies clearly show influence lifestyles development cancer. An incorrect diet, composed mainly saturated fats processed products, resulting body combined physical inactivity, induced an increase all three types under study. Given importance adopting correct prevent global institutions should develop strategies environments that encourage individuals adopt regular behaviors.

Background/objectives: recent studies have suggested that components typical of the Mediterranean diet (MedDiet) are associated with depression and anxiety prevention. In this sense, main objective study was to analyse associations between adherence MedDiet symptoms examine whether relationship is mediated by lean mass muscle strength index (MSI). Methods: a cross-sectional (based on data obtained from Nuts4Brain-Z study) conducted 2023–2024, involving 428 university students, aged 18–30 years, Spanish public university. Depression assessed using Beck Inventory (BDI-II), via General Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) tool. Adherence MEDAS questionnaire. Lean bioimpedance, MSI measured dynamometer. ANCOVA models were used test mean differences in scores categories (low < 9 points vs high ≥ points). Serial multiple mediation models, adjusted for confounders, explore role relationships symptoms. Results: students exhibited lower (p 0.05) than did low MedDiet. The analysis preliminarily revealed both acted as mediators anxiety. Conclusion:adherence per se does not appear direct effect because these partially (for depression) or entirely anxiety) explained MSI.
