Background/Objectives: Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains a major global health burden, necessitating innovative preventive approaches. Artemisia annua (A. annua), known for its extensive pharmacological properties, has shown potential in therapy. This study investigates the chemopreventive efficacy of methanolic extract A. (MEA) an azoxymethane (AOM)-induced murine model CRC, with focus on antioxidant, biomarker modulation, and pro-apoptotic activities. Methods: MEA was obtained via cold solvent extraction, yielding 39%, demonstrated potent vitro cytotoxicity against HCT116 RKO colon cell lines, IC50 values 20 µg/mL 15 µg/mL, respectively. Swiss albino mice were treated beginning two weeks before AOM induction, treatment continuing 21 weeks. Survival monitored 40 Key outcomes included serum levels (ADA, GGT, CD73, LDH), antioxidant enzyme activities (SOD, CAT, GPx1, MDA), reactive oxygen species (ROS) apoptosis histopathological evaluation. Results: significantly improved survival rates, reduced AOM-induced weight loss, modulated biomarkers, marked reductions ADA, LDH levels. Antioxidant defenses restored, as evidenced by increased SOD, GPx1 decreased MDA ROS reduced, colonic cells effectively induced. Histopathological analysis revealed substantial mitigation CRC-associated morphological abnormalities. Conclusions: exhibits robust demonstrating to reduce oxidative stress, modulate key induce CRC. These findings position promising natural candidate CRC prevention therapy, warranting further exploration clinical application.

The human body comprises numerous organs and tissues operating in synchrony, it facilitates metabolism, circulation, overall organismal function. Consequently, the well-being of our significantly influences health. In recent years, research on protective effects artesunate (AS) various organ functions, including heart, liver, brain, lungs, kidneys, gastrointestinal tract, bones, others has witnessed significant advancements. Findings from vivo vitro studies suggest that AS may emerge as a newfound guardian against damage. Its mechanisms primarily entail inhibition inflammatory factors affect anti-fibrotic, anti-aging, immune-enhancing, modulation stem cells, apoptosis, metabolic homeostasis, autophagy properties. Moreover, is attracting high level interest because its obvious antioxidant activities, activation Nrf2 HO-1 signaling pathways, inhibiting release reactive oxygen species, interfering with expression genes proteins associated oxidative stress. This review comprehensively outlines strides made by alleviating injuries stemming causes protecting organs, aiming to serve reference for further in-depth utilization AS.

Background: Despite the availability of numerous therapies, treatment acne vulgaris remains challenging. Novel drug targets for are still needed. Methods: We conducted a Mendelian randomization analysis to explore possible vulgaris. utilized summary statistics obtained from dataset vulgaris, including 399,413 individuals European ancestry. gathered genetic instruments 566 plasma proteins genome-wide association studies. In order strengthen findings randomization, various methods were employed, bidirectional analysis, Bayesian co-localization, phenotype scanning, and single-cell analysis. These facilitated identification reverse causality, search reported variant-trait associations, determination cell types that is primary source protein. Furthermore, using in deCODE cohort, we replication as an external validation. Results: At significance level Bonferroni (P < 8.83× 10 − 5 ), protein-acne pair was discovered through plasma, increasing TIMP4 (OR = 1.15; 95% CI, 1.09– 1.21; P 1.01× 7 ) increased risk The absence causality observed According co-localization shared same variant with (PPH4 0.93). replicated cohort 1.17; 1.10– 1.24; 1.48× ). Single-cell revealed predominantly detected myeloid cells blood, almost all skin tissue.
