Antibiotics are very effective in treating a variety of bacterial infections, while clinical overuse antibiotics can lead to diseases such as antibiotic-associated diarrhea. Numerous studies have shown that natural polysaccharides be used prebiotics alleviate diarrhea (AAD). Poria cocos is medicinal and edible mushroom widely for thousands years China, our former study demonstrated water-insoluble polysaccharide (PCY) has the potential prebiotic function. Therefore, we simulated digestion fermentation PCY using feces from volunteers, then administered it C57BL/6 mice with AAD its effects on gut microbiota metabolites. The results indicated effectively alleviated symptoms mice, restored intestinal barrier function, improved content short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), decreased level inflammatory cytokines, changed structure by increasing relative abundance norank_f__Muribaculaceae unclassified_f__Lachnospiraceae, decreasing Escherichia-Shigella, Staphylococcus Acinetobacter. This further an functional improving disease, provided new avenue insight developing food or alleviating gastrointestinal diseases.

Many health benefits have reportedly been associated with mushroom consumption. This study determined the chemical constituents of Pleurotus ostreatus methanol extract (MEPO) and investigated its antioxidant antidiabetic effects using in vitro silico approaches. The composition MEPO was gas chromatography-flame ionization detector (GC-FID) technique, while 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) ferric reducing power (FRAP) methods were used to determine activity. activity evaluated α-amylase α-glucosidase inhibition assays, molecular docking done give insight into binding potentials against α-amylase, α-glucosidase, phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) carboxykinase activities. Thirteen compounds, including ephedrine, oxalate, rutin, naringin, kaempferol, identified MEPO. showed moderate activity, as observed from DPPH (IC50 = 732.41 mg/ml) FRAP studies. also demonstrated stronger 246.58 than 1074.05 mg/ml). Docking studies revealed that rutin naringin interacted effectively amino acid residues crucial for PEP activities via hydrogen bonds. result shows is a rich store beneficial compounds which could be explored management diabetes complications.
