Various types of non-digestible oligosaccharides (NDOs) have attracted tremendous interest due to their healthy functions in regulating intestinal microbiota. Whereas the specificity different NDOs towards certain bacterial species remains unclear. In this study, konjac manna-oligosaccharides (KMOS) were selected from eight through vitro faecal batch fermentation. KMOS accelerated increase recognised probiotics (Bifidobacterium spp. and Akkermansia spp.) achieved highest productions lactic acid total short-chain fatty acids (42.0 mM). β-Mannosidase β-glucosidase played important role utilisation KMOS, mannobiose glucosyl-mannobiose preferentially consumed by pure culture, was tested with nine Bifidobacterium strains. Amongst, increased cell density B. animalis BB-12 3.5 folds improved its adhesion ability Caco-2 3.1 folds, suggesting that may be developed as a potential synbiotic combination.

Oligosaccharides are low-molecular-weight carbohydrates between monosaccharides and polysaccharides. They can be extracted directly from natural products by physicochemical methods or obtained chemical synthesis enzymatic reaction. have important physiological properties. Their research production involve many disciplines such as medicine, industry, biology. Functional oligosaccharides, an excellent functional food base, used dietary fibrer prebiotics to enrich the diet; improve microecology of gut; exert antitumour, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, lipid-lowering Therefore, industrial applications oligosaccharides increased rapidly in past few years. It has great prospects field medicinal chemistry. This review summarized preparation, structural features biological activities with particular emphasis on application industry human nutritional health. aims inform further development

The convergence of carbohydrate polymers and metal nanoparticles (MNPs) holds great promise for biomedical applications. Researchers aim to exploit the capability matrices modulate physicochemical properties MNPs, promote their therapeutic efficiency, improve targeted drug delivery, enhance biocompatibility. Therefore, understanding various attributes both carbohydrates MNPs is key harnessing them many distinct types carbohydrate-MNP systems confer unique capabilities wound healing, tissue engineering, cancer treatment, even food packaging. Here, we introduce physicochemical/biological discuss potentials shortcomings (alone in combination) We then offer an overview on how they can be utilized outcomes. Last but not least, future perspectives toward application such are highlighted.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact worldwide, resulting in long-term health effects for many individuals. Recently, as more and people recover from COVID-19, there is an increasing need to identify effective management strategies post-COVID-19 syndrome, which may include diarrhea, fatigue, chronic inflammation. Oligosaccharides derived natural resources have been shown prebiotic effects, emerging evidence suggests that they also immunomodulatory anti-inflammatory could be particularly relevant mitigating the of COVID-19. In this review, we explore potential oligosaccharides regulators gut microbiota intestinal management. We discuss complex interactions between microbiota, their functional metabolites, such short-chain fatty acids, immune system, highlighting improve manage syndrome. Furthermore, review with angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 expression alleviating Therefore, offer safe, natural, approach potentially improving health, overall outcomes

The gut microbiota has a significant role in human health and is affected by many factors. Diet dietary components have profound impacts on the composition of microbiome largely contribute to change bacterial flora. A high-fiber diet increased fiber (DF) fermentation production short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), which number microorganisms. Microbiota-accessible carbohydrates (MACs), subgroup fermentable such as DF, are defined indigestible metabolized microbes. These important sustain microbial environment complicated digestive tract avoid intestinal dysbiosis. Each MAC unique property can therefore be used sensitive output modulator support host homeostasis modulate health. In addition overall health-developing effects, MACs thought promising effect prevention non-communicable diseases (NCDs), major problems worldwide. aim manuscript was describe microbiota-accessible summarize their effects modulation NCDs.
